Well gents as I anticipated, I am now the cheerleader. My season ended last night with not 1 opportunity at a buck while I was in my blind. Even with deprivation tags for half the season which gives me nearly no laws to follow, it still didn't happen. I mean I did get a doe but not really what I was hoping for.

After looking at the calendar here's how my season basically broke down:

Number of days to hunt - 72
Number of sits - 25 at least (approximate)
Number of shooter bucks I had on camera - 6
Number of daylight camera pics when I could have shot a buck if I picked the right day - 4
Number of nighttime pics with more than 1 shooter on the camera - 40+

I'm thinking what all this really sums up to is...................................................... I need to find a new property to hunt. Yes there are good bucks that show up but the area is just to busy during the day and deer mostly stay off it until well after dark. I told my buddy if someone kills a nice buck out there, 3 things were likely to have happened... 99% chance it was at night with a spot light, another 99% chance it was not during the actual season, and a 100% chance the guy killing the buck was still the luckiest MF'er on the face of the earth.

Although on a positive note, the turkey hunting is pretty darn good out there. And between saturday and sunday I saw 4 jakes, 3 toms and about 20 hens. Fall turkey season opens on 11/10 less than 2 weeks away so I'll be out there, just not chasing bucks.

Hope everyone's season is in full swing and November is coming fast! Best of luck to everyone!

Man...hate to hear the outcome with bucks but at least you smoked a doe. That was my season 2 years ago and I did have to find new better ground. Good luck Turkey hunting and dont be a stranger here. Would love to hear about your Turkey hunts!

Oh I'll keep checking back for sure. Still rooting for everyone else and I'll let ya know how turkey season goes. Although I'm tellin y'all right now if one of those bucks walks in front of my blind while I'm in it during turkey season, I'm gonna loose my $hit!!!! If you hear yelling East of the Mississippi, it's me and that's what just happened. Especially if it's the giant 3x3 Haha!!!!!!!

Trying out my new tree saddle tonight . Basically set up in my front yard. But does come by nightly and I’m itching to shoot something.

Seen 3 buck out wandering this morning on my way to work. They were all good bucks too. Tells me that I need to be in a stand today!

I'm gonna take off this afternoon and spend the afternoon hunting my river bottom lease.

So I have had this lease I'm hunting for three years now. Every year it just keeps getting better. Deer numbers are up and buck age is starting to increase. My doe numbers have stabilized at a consistent 2 to 1--- slick heads to bucks when you include yearlings and fawns.

Three years ago I had this drop tine running the place. He is a ghost! I thought he was gone, but I think he lives!

2 days until we are loaded up and IL bound! I am as excited as I can be. This is the 1st October since 2013 that I have not killed a deer. That needs to change!

My vacation starts tomorrow. I have 10 days of hunting coming up before our gun season starts. Need to get in some serious hours in the stand.

Looking forward to seeing some dead deer on this team! I almost closed the deal on a doe last night. Crazy how spooked she was and it wasnt ne that got her skittish. Pro ably coyotes since they're terrible down there. 8 more days till I can kill another buck! Good luck guys.

Even though it’s at night it puts a smile on my face to know this guy is in the area. I’m going in after him Monday .

Well guys I didn’t get a shot off but did have a very eventful weekend. My dad shot a nice 10 pointer with his crossbow and I had a few good encounters including getting to within 50 yards of a bedded buck on a spot and stalk. Couldn’t quite finish the deal though. There was great deer activity all weekend and I’ll be out next weekend as well, however I’ll have the rifle in hand instead of the bow. I hope everyone is having a great time as rut action picks up!

I think this drop tine might just be kill able. He is showing up in the same place a lot in the evenings on the river bottom lease.

Just need a SW to hunt him.. STC_0004.jpg STC_0013.jpg
