Had a nice temperature drop in Ohio today. Maybe can get out tomorrow morning...I don’t like hunting mornings as much but it’s better than not hunting at all I suppose if you pick your spots wisely.

Gents I'm not real sure what the heck has happened on the property I hunt but all the sudden the bucks, and most of the does have vanished. Almost coming in nightly until 9/24 and then poof, gone like a bad Halloween trick. I did hear some reports of a big kitty cat running around within about a mile and a half of the property but I'm starting to think that's not all that's happened. I have had a few does and a spike show up a night here and there but for 6 or more bucks to vanish like that and not one appearance in 2 weeks makes me wonder what the hell is going on. The way things are going now, I'll be lucky just to get a buck on camera, let alone shoot one the rest of the year.

Although one bright spot is the property owner is still trying to get his deprivation tags renewed. If that happens, I might be able to hunt through the end of November which is unheard of in my area. Keeping my fingers crossed! Hope everyone else is doing well and seasons are kicking off right!

Dang man. I hate to hear they vanished. When does rut happen out there and are there any change in available food sources?

Rut usually happens mid to late Nov. Food sources are everywhere and fairly abundant for the most part too along with water. Deer around there usually just go to the places where they aren't being messed with. But the weather has been cooler than normal out here and there was a bit more sparing going on than I was used to seeing. Maybe they just split up from the bachelor group went their own ways but you'd think at least one or two would hang around. Haven't seen very many does around either so who knows.

I just keep hoping they, or at least a couple bucks, come back as quick as they left. If the weather keeps cool, they could start to get a little goofy in the next week or two. Season ends on 10/28 unless the property owner gets deprivation tags so I have 3 more weeks. I'm not giving up for sure but right now just hoping and praying. Guess you never know what could happen.

Thanks Ridge. Problem with my property is it's all a pretty active mandarin orchard and all the surrounding areas are private in close proximity to a little town. The bucks especially don't come on the property other than night time unless I can catch one leaving first thing in the morning or one happens to come on just before dark in the evening. Deer don't live on the property at all.

I'm just hoping things take a turn for the better. With all the properties in the surrounding area being about 50 acres or less, it's easy for something to move the deer to other areas. Hopefully something moves them back to where they were before the season ends.

Cold front moving in this week. I'll be hanging on the side of a tree Wednesday evening :)

    Time to make it happen!

No luck what so ever this weekend. It was insanely hot, mid 90's midday.

On Sunday morning I was covered up with pigs eating acorns before daylight but they made their way out before shooting light. 30 minutes later I had a coyote come trotting through, he never did stop. I took a passing shot but completely whiffed

Likely won't be back until 10/25 but the weather should be better by then

Well gents it looks like the hunting gods have shined upon me again, at least a little. Just as I was complaining earlier this week, yesterday I think in fact, I checked my cards this morning. One of the decent 3x3's stopped by the blind Sunday evening to let me know he's still out there. Not sure where he, or the others for that matter, went for the past 2 weeks but at least one of them is still in the area. Looks like I still might have a chance so I'll be out there tomorrow evening to see if he has a lapse in judgement and comes by again.

Keeping my fingers crossed for a suicidal buck!!

Slid out of work early today. Just couldn’t stand it any longer. I was in bad need of some tree time!

Relatively cool 71 degrees with a SSE winds 7 mph. Temps are going to be dropping overnight into the high 40’s.

With a cold front moving in tonight I figured I might catch some early pre-front movement.

Been on stand 30 minutes and this little guy strolled through. Great just to see a deer the first sit. Need his big brother to come out and play. Plenty of day light left.. :)

Awe man that makes me jealous! Good luck man. We are getting much cooler weather and I'd love to be out, but I must wait. Stupid work.

Starting to get more pics of some bucks...not in daylight but that will come in time. Hunting a property I haven’t been on since 2012 Friday!

Good luck! Hit the live from the stand thread while you're in. That's where I'll be.
