Honestly never been in this situation of downing a buck early. It's a whole different game. Weird feeling. Not bragging or complaining, but it's weird. Sent from my SM-G960U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
2 but I have to wait till November 10 to take 2nd one. That's to give the gun hunters something to shoot at I guess. Stupid rule. Sent from my SM-G960U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app

Youth season opens today. Brother and nephew are at the family farm with the kids trying to kick the season off right. I am planning on getting out Tuesday evening if the wind is right....
Can't imagine what you're going through but prayers are being sent your way. Late 2016 I lost my dad. I took his place on a white tail hunt in Saskatchewan. On the last afternoon a nice 10 point walked out and I got him. To this day I know he had something to do with it. I'd say your pic is a gift from your little girl. Hopefully he'll present a shot for ya this year. Keep the memories close to you and hope the family is well.
Not sure what's changed out my way but for some reason the bucks have went somewhere besides where I'm hunting. I was getting pics of the same 4 or 5 bucks almost every night for the last month but now nothing for 5 days. The big 3x3 walked past my blind the Monday morning after our general season opened. Killed me seeing the pic but I guess you can't be out there everyday. Haven't seen him since or the nice 4x4 either. Good news is I have until 10/28 before my season is over for the year. Still keeping my fingers crossed and the weather has been a lot cooler than normal out here so I guess a lot can happen. Staying hopeful out here and hoping everyone else is having a good start! October is tomorrow!!
Hillbilly I’m not sure about where you live but where I’m at the deer will shift their home range about this time. I’ll usually have some great pictures of several bucks throughout the summer. This week is when it typically all changes and they shift areas by a few miles. A couple stay but they are establishing their core areas and are starting to get ready for the rut. Or at least that’s how I understand it. I was able to get out last night for a hunt. Set up on the edge of a field and a patch of woods with a little valley of thick stuff in it. Not much action but squirrels up until last light. Then it got crazy. Had a doe come in and stop right before an opening. Then a buck came to within 10 yards of my stand. Decent buck but from what I could see he wasn’t a shooter. Then out of nowhere a buck hit the field 15 yards away. I thought he was the decent buck I saw...but a second look told me this was a stud. I tried to get my camera on him because it is able to have better light than my eyes. It was too dark to shoot and that buck wasn’t sticking around. Had 3 other deer run by after he took off. It’s gonna be an Indian summer for the next few days so I’ll tend to family stuff and work and wait for a cold front. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Yep it is that time where patterns shift and the bucks move areas. I'm patiently waiting for consistently cooler weather, so the pressure to hurry the processing of meat isn't as bad. 2 years ago I was able to age a doe for 10 days, and it was awesome. Plus it just feels better in the cool air on the stand. Leaves are changing here, beans are yellowing up and the corn is coming out. It's about to get really good. I couldn’t resist. My two year old girl and I went out and climbed in “the stand” aka the kids playset! She stayed fairly quiet for 40 minutes or so. No does in the backyard tonight. But we had some fun. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Great times in the stand!!! Haven't gotten out much, yet. I am told I need to stay around home to wait for the first grandbaby to get here some time this month. However I am going on my year pig hunt/pork shopping trip to Iowa next weekend. Will cut it short if she decides to come early.
Looks like we are going to have 8o degree weather till the middle of next week. To hot and to many skeeters to make an evening hunt for me!
I'll be heading out this weekend hunting Saturday through Tuesday. They're forecasting mid 60's and very wet but you gotta go when you get to go. The rain will not keep me out of a tree but lighting and strong winds might. Keeping my fingers crossed. Good luck to everyone.
"They're forecasting mid 60's" I wish! 90/70's for me But I will be out there starting tomorrow afternoon
