Well...a couple of things I guess I can say here. First, it gave you the thrill of a lifetime and that is impossible to measure! I've never killed a buck with a bow personally and relish the day it happens. Second, you can always double check the measurements. It ain't hard to do. Point is, it's a hell of a buck, and nobody can take that or make it less of an accomplishment. I think it's awesome! Sent from my SM-G960U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Post 2 pics of you the deer and your bow on the score thread with his score. It would help if you posted a pic of the score break down. Can't remember if that is mandatory. Take a look at the rules real quick to make sure. They are on the score thread I think. Sent from my SM-G960U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Date and time of the harvest too. Score card isn't mandatory. Sent from my SM-G960U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Sweet! Looks like a nice buck! Careful pullin him out from under the log! Looking forward to some more pics!
Bub-- I have been hunting for 43 years and in all that time I only have three bucks that score more than 140, and one of those was with a gun. You pick your head up and hold it high because you accomplished something that very few folks do!. That is to take a buck with a bow that scores better than 140. I figured when I saw him that he was a 150 class buck... That in my book is an awesome buck no matter where you live or hunt!
Congrats man! That’s an awesome deer regardless of the score. One thing I would point out is that the contest counts gross score instead of net score. So if whoever scored your buck made deductions then that wouldn’t matter for this contest. Just a thought cause I figured it would have scored higher than that too.
He’s a great buck man. Score is just a number. If he made you stand up and got your heart pumping, he’s nothing to be ashamed of. We can’t help but be curious what the score might be. My buck from last year did t break 100 but I didn’t care. He was my first buck with a compound. He’s on my wall. Most guys never get a chance at a buck that big. Congrats! Enjoy him! Hate to butt in since I'm on another team, but that deer scores more than 145. Have somebody else score it. I see at least mid 150's gross and I score a lot of deer. Only guess is that whoever scored it deducted the differences. Had to say something after seeing it on the scoring thread. Great deer and congrats!
Congrats on a great Buck huntem steady. 145 is not a shabby score but like buckeyehntr5 said, have someone else score it also if you don't know how. I have an old bad boy 8 pt from Kansas that's 22 1/2" inside spread, only scored in the mid 130's because of short tines; but let me tell you it sure gave me the ass snappers when I seen it coming. My son has also killed some great deer including a 167" 8pt, yet his favorite is a big old mature 6 he called off a doe and shot off the ground at 8 yards last season. Just trying to say don't let the score bother you, it's an awesome buck; I would shoot it anywhere.
I would be interested in re-scoring your buck if you would like me to... The contest rules say you need to post a score sheet of the rack when you enter your buck. If you have one just post it and we can review it to see if it is correct.....
well the buck is at the taxidermist right now just dopped it off yesterday but ill take a pic of the sheet and put it ip on here America...Love it or Leave it
Ill have the buck back in a month from the taxidermist other wise i would remeasure my self right now America...Love it or Leave it
I just reviewed it and it looks right to me. Without doing the measuring myself, and just going by the numbers on the paper --- it all adds up to right at 146. I do question why he had the left G3 as abnormal but the total inches of horn numbers is right. It's a great buck no matter what! You need to edit your score sheet post and add the pic of your score paper here to your post. They get pretty picky about the scoring post.
From the rules for the contest.. "Scoring system will be as follows: Each participant is allowed to enter ONE antlered deer as their “Buck Score”. This must be the FIRST antlered deer that you harvest during the season. Score will be based on GROSS total score using the P&Y scoring system. All measurements must be listed at time when score is posted. If anyone has any problems with scoring, please ask for help first." FYI-- one of my team mates got burnt on this two years ago!
Yep I missed that. Captain fail. Glad you pointed it out, and I think I remember a problem last year with that. Good deal. Sent from my SM-G960U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Yes if you can --- or just add the score sheet, photos, time, & gear again as a the new post. Then make note that you were repeating your post with the score sheet. Mention you need the other one deleted . Brad the moderator will delete the first one and get it straightened out
