Yep, I am pretty fortunate but I just need more time to hunt them lol.....

That is my plan...I have tagged a doe opening morning the past 3 seasons so hopefully this will be no different....

Noticed alot of my trailcam pictures were difficult to see.. so I took the time to adjust the brightness.

    Well, My name is Sean.

I am in the United States Navy, and im currently on recruiting duty in Salisbury NC. I moved to NC back in DEC with my wife, and we are now expecting our first child (Praying for a BOY!). I have friend in Mocksville letting me hunt on his farm this year, but i haven't had a chance to go out and scout it yet. I will also be hunting on my parents land in MD were i know there are some great bucks and a ton of does ready to be taken!

    cheers to the season boys!
    Sean

Going Bear hunting this year for the first time here in the U.P. We have plenty of bear on camera and hope to stick a couple starting September 15th... Anyone ever shoot a bear with the stick and string and is the 'death moan' as bad as they say!?

No, never been bear hunting... Really got the urge this last year though. Started to look into it and then realized I was going to use enough vacation and money on the trips I already have planned.... One of these years I want to give it a go....

Would really like to plan a nice spring hunt someplace - would be a great way to bridge the gap between seasons....

So you using your same setup or you changing anything up (like BH)?

Good luck on your hunt and make sure to keep us posted!!

he's a stud! hope you find him this year!

...Don't we all have that buck that we just pray and lose sleepover, hoping that he made it through the year and we get another crack at em? This year it was 'Splits' and 'Yooper' for me...

That is cool man...I too, Thank You for your Service!!

I have some buddy's they stay up there pretty close to you in Lexington. I am on the other side of the State from you though... I know it is an exciting time for you two. I have a 4 year old son and another little bow due on December 13th...I said I would have until I had a boy but my first 2 are boys so I think we are done lol....I would have been happy either way as long as the child was healthy....

    Good luck hunting man!!

You will have fun man!! Certain places in NC have lots of bears and BIG bears....We have some around where I live but up until last year I have never seen one. I was about 10 min from climbing down that night when I hurd the crunch in the leaves. I just knew it was a buck.....then a few steps more I saw it was black so my first thought was pig....then it steps out at 8 yards and I said "That ain't no pig" lol....I already had my video cam going and when He circled around to 16 yards I drilled him with my bow...He went about 35 yds and piled up....And yes the Death Moan was AWESOME!! I got it all a video too......It was not a big bear but it was big to me b/c it was the 1st one I had ever seen and I sure was not climbing down with it walking around...

Here in this part of NC our bear season comes in the 2nd or 3rd Saturday in November. However you cannot bait them or shoot them over bait. Unfortunately that is when most people see them....I was hunting a pinch point and just got lucky I guess b/c I had never gotten a pic of a bear cruising thru.....I really wish they would open a Spring season and allow you to bait. I really do not want them getting their #'s up around me lol....We already have a serious problem with coyotes and wild hogs.....

I plan on using my same setup.. the bear we're after are not all that big, they range between 150-300 lbs. If I was getting up in the 400+ I would definitely consider it, probable change to a fixed blade.

Great Story! I hope I find that same success!
...I'm like you, I'm not worried about size, if it's a bear I'm shooting it! :) My tag is good starting September 15th so I'll let you know how things go, I have high hopes because we have bear on our bait and in the food plots during all hours of the day just about everyday. :)

I should be getting my chance next year in WI. If/when you get one let me know about the "deat moan" I heard the same thing. I've only seen bear shot with a gun and never heard the moan. What part of the U.P. you hunting? I have 3 points in for the Bergland area. I'm sure it's different being a resident but do you know the average points it takes to get a tag?

Back to deer hunting. I checked my cameras this weekend and have a couple bucks (tall 8 pt and a 9 with s sticker of the right g2) that qualify for shooters in my area. If I remember I will post the pictures tonight.
