I'll be WI September 15th! and in Michigan October 1st. As I mentioned this is my first year with the pressure of producing a show so I'm really really excited about the season but in the same breathe I'm nervous about it too. Bowhunting is hard enough without a camera and the added pressure of getting the shot on film than editing it to make it watchable. I'll know more after this weekend when i pickup the trailcams but we are after some pretty nice bucks in WI... there are 3 bucks that we have history with that are pushing #150-160 class this year and a couple newbies around 130 that would be great to get an arrow into. Back in Michigan we have a really nice 11 pointer with split brows that I have 4 years of history with that is top on my list! Hope I have some pictures this weekend for you all and if any of you have pictures don't be shy let us see em!
September 15 is opener but proabaly won't get out til the end of the month with other things going on. Going Monday to check cameras. My nephew tells me he saw a monster on our land but his definition of a monster and mine are pretty far apart. We'll have to wait and see if he shows up on camera. Also the piece of land we hunt is just a travel corridor for deer but there are plenty of does traveling through so we do see our fair share of bucks through out the season. GO BADGERS!!
My opening day is Sept. 8th.......T-minus 9 days........I can only hunt that morning though which sucks but I have 2 weddings to go to....I asked them WTH were they thinking getting married on opening day lol....
picked up trailcam cards today does and turkeys deer have been going buy every other day turkeys every day so it looks good for the season
Nice...At least you got a doe coming by to take out..... Maybe the turkeys will stick round to next season lol.....
in nh we get a fall trukey tag for bow hunting doe or turkey if they come bye someting is getting stuck good luck on the 8th
I agree with SDH for el Capy-tan. Team logo rocks!! Im hunting central WI, Sept 15th opener...been patterning a small bachelor group in one area, but just acquired permission for new and promising parcel! You know the one....the parcel of land you always pass by and see deer lingering on seemingly at all hours of the day and night! Yep, thats the one! Wahoo!! Keep you all posted!!
I already checked in but I thought I would write a little about myself. Like I said before I hunt in Northern Indiana. I am a Corrections Officer at one of the biggest county jails in Indiana. The downside to that is I work second shift so my evening hunts are limited. The upside however is that I can hunt any morning I want. I shoot a Martin Trophy Hunter, 30in Draw, 65#, CE Mayhem arrows, G5 Montec broadheads. I have a buck this year on cam that looks to be in the high 120's maybe into the 130's that I would love to put on the ground. We dont have too many deer around here that score that high so I am looking forward to this season. My season starts October 1st so I will be out opening morning!!! Good Luck everyone and I am looking forward to getting to know all of you!!!
Just checked our WI cameras yesterday and found some real nice bucks, one in particular that we call Splits and he's pushing 155-160! I'll post pics when I get back into town.. Cant wait for opening day!
I had a great weekend in Wisconsin.. needless to say I can't wait for opening day! Getting pictures of these great bucks don't help the anxiety either! I promised you guys some eye candy...here it is, enjoy the pics!
Very nice!! Hopefully you'll get a crack at him during the season! I've got so much 'deer prep' I want to do but I'm forcing myself to stay focused on my elk trip (T-minus about 5 days)... Trying to decide if I want to upgrade my binos (currently have a 7 ish year old pair of alpens) and get a new case for my Z7 (only case I have that works for my z7 is a soft case) before my trip or not.... To many decisions and only limited funds - ha ha...
nice deer sat it stand yesterday for a bear thats been buging a farmer i know he did not show up but it did feel good to be in a tree we have crop damage permits for deer we will be sitting some days this week
Good Luck with your elk hunt! I bought a pair of nikon monarchs last year and it was the best investment of the year. Nothing like having a great pair of binocs you can count on...
Yeah, I have looked through the Monarchs before, they are nice. I cleaned the glass on my Alpens and went outside at right at dusk tonight, they still looked great... Hate to admit it but think they were just dirty... I also have a pair of decent 8x Brunton's that I use for 3D - I'll bring those along as a backup pair... Spent $200+ on a case, arrows and few misc items so going to try and get by with the rest of my equipment for now... 4 days and counting :-)
Those are some great bucks Double Lung!! I have no shooters on cam but I am only running 2 cams and they have not been out long...I have too many places and not enough cameras to monitor them all....Shouldn't have a problem thwacking a doe Saturday morning though.....
