Does anyone feel like they're getting any closer to tagging a big buck? I haven't been able to get much of a bead on any of the shooter bucks, this time last year we had no less than 6 scrapes and dozens of rubs to go off. Zero scrapes to this point a very few rubs even tho we seem to have more mature deer than ever on cameras.

I was thinking about this in the stand tonight... How one of the things I like about bowhunting is how it feels like all hope is lost, sitting there thinking there aren't any shooters on this farm - then all of a sudden <<BAM>>, there he is.... Low lows and high highs :-)

But to answer your question, no, it doesn't feel like I'm any closer to punching my buck tag... Though I'm happy with some of my stand sets - just need to stay patient - in another week or two, all **** is about to break loose... Been seeing deer on pretty much every sit (least from a distance) - just no shooter bucks.

Good luck on the buck in your trail cam pic NC!

Man, I feel like I have a couple really good spots where I have the chance at seeing one....Unfortunately with the time getting ready to change and starting a new job next week I will have extremely limited(Even more limited than it is now) to be in there....Will see though....

SDH, that's what I love about hunting.. just when you think there are no deer in the woods 'BAM' there's your shooter! GOTTA LOVE IT!

I too am pleased with my setup's and I think it's a matter of time before the sign and bucks start making a presence.

I leave on wednesday to WI for my first long weekend. I love the weekend before Halloween, we have always had some great encounters.
    Good luck guys.

Good luck DL....I too love this upcoming weekend....There were a lot of great bucks killed around this time last year...The only difference this year is it's going to be 75 and sunny instead of 35-40 with wind and light rain....It will probably not be as good as last year....

I saw a very nice and "new" 8 pt buck on my way home the other day. Dont have this one on camera yet and he was going into my regular hunting parcel. That puts 4 known shooters on the "hit list". Still only have two little forkhorns making day time appearances thus far, but the best time of the year is still yet to come! I cant wait!! This time of year is like when I was a kid waiting for Christmas and Birthdays but all wrapped up into one!

    The bucks will come!

    Good luck...

Not going to be long and these bucks are going to start making mistakes....

Good luck DL! Temperture is suppose to take a huge drop Friday night, with highs in the 40s this weekend. Even with the temps being in the 60s the last few nights the deer have really been moving at night. Bad thing is there has been a ton of fog also!

One of my best sits ever tonight!! Saw 7 different bucks - it was amazing! Most were small but there was one dandy - unfortunately closet he came was 100 yds.... Seeing a shooter like that certainly renews the batteries for future sits though!!

Bucks are certainly starting to move around during daylight hours...I saw a nice 8 pointer a few nights ago, and saw what I believe to be the same buck this afternoon standing along the side of the road! Had he been bigger, I may have thought about swerving towards him! LOL!

Good luck to everyone this weekend! My Dad is coming for a visit, so we will be out popping off a few rounds to make sure everything's good for gun deer season. I have him all set up in an awesome spot, so hopefully everything will turn out good for him this year! Im going to try to sneak a few hours in the stand in the morning though!

Well guys, the "Big Boy" made an appearance this morning and this evening, unfortunalty not within in shooting range. He was most definatly chasing the does though. Plus he made an appearance on the trail camera on Friday at 8:45 AM, which is kiling me because its within 15 yards of my stand! Figures!! My job is getting in the way of my hunting!!

Anyways, thought he was a 10 pointer, but upon closer inspection, he has 5 on one side, and 3 on the other side, plus a broken brow tine... Still looks really nice though. Had another 8 pointer on the trail cam, Im calling him Grandpa, because his entire face loks grey and the tops of his legs are white.

While in the stand tonight I even had a small buck bed down about 30 yards from. Was neat at first but then I was ready to get out of the stand and he was still there! Ended up not getting down until about 7 pm.

Be out again in the morning, hopefully "Big Boy" will be a little more cooperative!

    good luck all!
