Oh boy, at least Doublelung will have me in the stand with him, with all this texting someone needs to watch for deer! JK Very cool idea you guys have, good luck!
Thanks DL!! You too....Same here... I am going out this evening to hunt with my Dad in one of his new spots and he is letting fling the first arrow so I am excited. He has got a ton of deer coming in so I am hoping for a shot on something...
Got a couple of stands hung today.... Got two more I want to hang for sure then will be all set.... Have a feeling that Oct is going to go really fast this year. Last few years I've been waiting until the end of Oct before hitting things really hard but with all the crops coming out ahead of schedule this year, I may start up my hunting a little earlier this year....
hey guys, sorry its been so long since my last post. Work has picked up quite a bit lately and we had a family member pass away. I plan on finally getting back in to the woods this month.
After a slow start to my weekend in WI it turned out to be the best of the year. Our first 8 hours in the stand were pretty uneventful and downright disturbing after having at least three different deer bust us. Saturday night the tides changed, at last light we had what we thought was our #1 hit list buck (Splits) come within 40 yards of our stand location marking the first time of the season to see a buck while in stand! The next morning we elected to setup in the same tree hoping to catch that buck return from feeding and that's exactly what happened, the buck followed the script perfectly and walked within 20 yards giving us beautiful footage. Obviously I decided to pass on this nice two year old (let em go let em grow) . That experience followed a quick glimpse of a young eight pointer that we had never seen before, making it two bucks on their feet that morning! Our weekend was topped off Sunday night when again at last light we had a buck we call 'Hooks' bumping some does 20 yards in front of us... unfortunitely we had no filming light left at this time and had to keep the arrow nocked but regardless this was our fourth buck encounter in a day and a half, making this past weekend a great success! It was exciting to see alittle bumping action by a two year old buck and leads me to believe we are not far from starting to see a lot of buck sign (rubs and scrapes) popup, which is always exciting. I would definitely suggest all you guys begin getting your mock scrapes made if you haven't already!? Let me know if you guys are starting to see buck sign? and good luck, things are going to start to get good before we know it!
Sounds like a great weekend!! Good idea on the mock scrapes... I have one that I ususally get going 1st part of Oct.... Hopefully this week I can sneak out, hang those last couple of stands then start my mock scrape and setup a camera or two...
