If anyone is interested in exchanging texts during this hunting season my cell # is (906)361-8979. Would love to hear from you guys! I'll be in a tree this weekend, hoping to smoke another doe and see some hard horned studs.

NC, wow that does suck but chin up, as frustrating as it is, it's all part of the chance we take (or luck we count on) when we go afield with the bow I guess.

I have been fortunate enough to be able to watch several deer from afar, and two small (twins??) bucks play fighting next to my tree! I figured I wasn't go to shot them, so I took a little video. It was pretty neat to watch. Tonight I tried a different stand, and was completely and totally busted out by a doe. About 15 minutes later, I decided to get out of the stand since I had seen some movement on the edge of the woods and field. I started to stalk, as quietly as possible with the crunchy leaves unfoot(is that even possible??) I had my yardage set to 40 yards, and instead of skirting near the tree cover as my intial instinct said, I decided to cut it a little wider, took two more steps, only to be busted by the same flippin doe 36 yards away! She stared at me let stomped away and let out something which sounded like a scream. Made me jump a little! LOL
    Happy hunting and straight shooting!
PS several nice bucks on one parcel Im hunting...now if they would only come by when Im in the stand and when theres enough daylight!

I have been there before as well....

Hopefully the cooler temps are going to start to get them up on there feet more. The two nice bucks I have seen this year were on the same day and they were out by 6:30 which is really weird for around here....The moon was underfoot though and we were coming off a rain storm the day before....I had what I know was a buck circle me the other night in the woods. The does came out but he stayed in the woods circling down wind. Unfortunately it was too dark and I could not make out his rack. He was only 25 yards away but it was just to dark...that is how it goes...

It's funny... we all love the last 30 minutes of the night hunt but all dread the moment when you can no longer shoot/see. :)
Like I have mentioned, we film our hunts and this makes things even more frustarating because of the fact that your night is over when you loose camera light, which is a good 15 minutes before actual shooting light ends. That's hunting!
Can't wait to get back in a tree this weekend!

Good Luck NC and Junior! Shoot straight and... smoke a doe :)

    Very true!

I give you guys that film hunts a lot of respect! I'm not sure that if the camera man told me "don't shoot, I don't have a clear view" that I would actually be able to hold off on a shooter buck (and would have a really hard time not shooting during the un-filmable time of 1st and last light). Most likely I would respond - "Thwack..... what was that?" ;-)

LOL.Yep, that is pretty much me...I want to get every shot on film..One because I love to watch they lighted nock fly and two it really helps aid in seeing where you hit the animal. You can rewind and and slow it down so that you know whether or not you can retrieve your animal or you need to wait longer....

Double lungs post got me thinking... I don't know if you guys are familiar with the "groupMe" app, but we could all get in it and be able to chat while hunting, not sure if you'd all be interested. Available on android, blackberry, iphone, and just via text over normal phones. Just an option, or we can rely on the thread.

lol... sorry fellas, someone sent me an invite earlier today and i rejected it because I thought it was at&t trying to add something to my plan. Whoever that was feel free to send it again and I'll accept it, in the meantime I will definitely add the app. I think it would be awesome to stay in touch while in a tree throughout the year! The more the better!

So far I have only really filmed my bear hunts...not really a priority for me but like to dabble here and there...for now...

I will definately check out the app. That would be pretty neat to do a little communticating "live from the hunt" so to speak!

Wont be able to hit the stand again until Sunday afternoon now...Ive been recruited for manual labor on my buddy's land in Mercer, WI. I told him only if there was some walleye/musky fishing "breaks". We were able to comprimise! Good fortune and shoot straight!
