I have 2 or 3 different kinds of hang on tree stands and honestly couldn't tell you what kind. 2 of them I know are River's Edge with arm rest and back pad. I used to buy whatever Menard's had on sale. Maybe one day I'll splurge and get some Muddy's or Lone Wolf's but for know I'm happy with what I have. Good Luck to everyone getting in the woods this weekend.
Yep, we have 2 river's edge hang on as well. That have a back rest pad and arm rails which is nice. Just wish there seat cushions were thicker..... I bought my Muddy's while they were on sale right after the season got over. I think I have $150 in the big aluminum hang on and the set oif sticks which is a deal for what they usually cost. I can find some other ones for a lot less that work just as good but at the time I wanted a Muddy......
how high do you guys like to set your stands an why I'm 25ft high I feel it gives me an edge when deer are real close but it makes for tougher shots early season when the leaves haven't fell yet one thing I also do is when I practice shooting I notice a difference if you sight in on the ground an shoot off a stand so I always sight in from 20-25 ft up..
My height varies depending on cover. I like the 16-20 foot range. Plenty high and the killzone is not that hard to hit even on close shots.. I have a couple stands though that are only 13-15 ft high but there are in thick Holly Trees with a ton of cover around me. So it just depends man. You are right about making it hard in the early season though. That is another reason why I like to hunt out of a ground blind during the early season...You can see so much more...
Ideally I'm 20' high but so much of it depends on the cover around me... I don't mind being 25' high but I'm never comfortable with that shot angle when they're within 15 yards or so. GM, it's a great idea to practice from off the ground, I wish I did more of it! ......Leaving tomorrow for opening day in WI!!!
I know you are super pumped to be heading to WI for opening day!!! I wish you the best man.... I am heading back out this evening to hunt a small bean field that is ate up with sign. Hopefully I can at least get us 50 points on the board with doe...
I just got my bow back the other day from the shop and it is tuned and shooting great!!! I also bought new arrows... the CE Mayhems... And I love them!!! My stands hang between 13 and 15 feet high because I am very scared of hights lol... But it seems to work for me. October 1st cannot get here soon enough!!!!!!

Thanks guys... had a great time this weekend! FYI. If any of you are fortunate enough to hit the woods anytime soon I would suggest finding the acorns if possible! The deer in my neck of the woods seem to be nailing them! ...I'll post a picture and submit my scores with the photos tomorrow. Thanks again!
Recovery photos from this past weekend in Central Wisconsin. This doe holds a special place in my heart because she is the first deer we ever killed on film!
