I like Booners, Raxx and Ruts. I will think of some names to throw out there as I drive. I'm getting ready to go to Burning Man tomorrow.
Cmon down! There’s nothing like it down here. Especially when they start running dogs Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Here’s a buck I’ll be looking for this year on public land. Only have night pictures of him last season so maybe I can refine and track him back to his core area for some daytime sightings Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
When does everybody start? Our season in WI starts on Sept 14th. I usually don’t get out too much early season. Generally try and wait until third week of October. Early season just typically isn’t good on our property and hunting a lot does more harm than good in my experience. While we are waiting to start, what’s everybody’s most memorable hunting experiences? I’ve been bow hunting for 11 years now. My son Owen started hunting 2 years ago. On his first sit ever on the youth gun hunt, he shot a really nice buck. He didn’t even realize what he had accomplished at the time. He was more excited for his basket 8 last year because he had a fair number of sits and got to appreciate the hunt more, but hunting with my son has been awesome. He is 12 this year and just really likes hunting, especially duck hunting right now. My other son is going to wait one more year to start hunting. He just turned 9 in March and just isn’t quite ready. My most memorable personal hunt ended in the only deer I’ve ever lost back in 2012. It’s a long story that maybe I’ll share sometime when the season is slower. The neighbor ended up finding him the following summer. I looked for the deer for 3 straight weeks as I knew it wasn’t a great shot, but likely fatal. I gained a lot of experience with that lost deer and have made several good decisions since as a result that I might not have made without that experience. My personal best deer with a bow is the 8 point pictured. He had caked on velvet on one side which made him very unique. We called him Cocoa, because it looked like he had a chocolate rack. He was 5.5 years old and dressed 197.2 pounds. Also my heaviest deer to date. It was also two weeks after my son shot his buck so that 2017 season will be hard to top. My other passion is musky fishing. Same adrenaline rush as shooting deer with my bow. I love the outdoors and spending time on God’s beautiful creation and am really enjoying getting my kids hooked as well. Hope to make many more memories in 2019!
my season opens 10/1, but I will be in a tree 9/14 trying to film a good buddy kill a giant urban deer he is after. Then I'll be going hard till Jan 10th!
I will post season plans and updates next week. I'm about an hour from burning man for the next 3 day. I'm good with whatever name and captain if it gets decided Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I have to get my cameras put out. I have to be careful where I hunt as I have lost about 15 cameras over the years to trespassers. Sent from my moto z4 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
