Hey guys... like the name and avatars. Some studs hitting the ground in ND so far, hope to add my name to the list next weekend. So Rob how many animals are fair game for you this fall? Have a buddy that moved to Alaska and guided moose and bear for awhile, oh the stories that guy has.
It's more a matter of what do I have enough leave and money to go after than what's available. Here's my hitlist for this year: blacktails (2 of 3 tags filled) mule deer (CO) mtn. goat brown bear Put the smack on a monster this weekend!!
Man we got out of the gate early! Congrats to both Rob and Jenna! Good luck this weekend Heavy Hitter! 20 days and counting here in Oklahoma. I've been seeing a couple of nice bucks here and one will push 160". Hope he makes a mistake and gives me a chance. I'm buying a new Bushnell Trophy Cam this weekend and will hopefully have some nice pics and vids to post in a couple of weeks. My Cudde kicked the bucket on me. Anyone else getting any pics?
Ok, it's official. We are the Rack Reapers. I'll post up some trail cam picks from the summer this weekend when I get a chance. I've got a few good ones that were around most of the summer. Now I have to get them to show during the season.
I am going out today, to finish puting up my last stand before next weekends opener. I will be checking my 2 trail cams, they have been out for the last 2 weeks, so hopefully I will have a couple of good picks to post.
If we're going to hold on to our lead Jenna needs to get her buck into the Official Score Card thread before TJF (who's entering his tonight). It's going to be tight for our two bucks to equal the score of that toad, I'm guessing it goes close to 180 but hoping it's less.
Ya, that buck is a hoss! Well, I got my last stand up today, you ever have one of those stands that just feels good? This is one of those. I had to move it around a little, and work it so it was just right. Now I should say, that I dont have what you would call big buck grounds. I only have the 1 place that is about 15 acres, and the guys around here shoot what ever moves. I would say that if I could get on something that would go 130", that would be huge. I do try and pass on the little ones, but my biggest so far is about120". I have had some on film, that would maybe go 140, but have never seen him in person.
Hung a stand in a spot that I haven't visited since I was 12 or 13 years old. (I am 30 years old now) Duke suggested it after checking out my topo. It's a nasty entry and exit, but I really like it for an early AM hunt. We shall see. Hanging the last four stands tomorrow.
Hey, if all 10 of us shoot 80+ inch deer we'd be winners. It's more a matter of how many of us tag out than how big the deer are. A good 160" Booner definitely helps though. In any case, hunt hard, shoot or don't shoot what you want and be happy. This contest is all in good fun. Otherwise I wouldn't have bothered to enter and handicap my poor teammates with our puny Sitka racks.
Hey guys just checking in! Been out chasing elk and haven't been on. I love the team name and Avatar. If we keep it up BBK could be done for
Well done on the scoring Jenna! Don't forget that you need to have 2 photos and the team # / name up in the entry thread. That puts us solidly in second place for now. Too bad I didn't shoot my bigger deer first.
Here's a few of the bucks I'm after this season. Some have been around all summer and a couple I only got 1 pic of. These 2 have been around all summer. One is a main frame heavy 9 with a sticker by his left brow. The other is a monster non-typical that I sure hope I see in range soon. They liked to travel together most of the summer. The next one is a big 11 pointer that showed up recently. This is a big 10 point I got a couple pics of.
Here is the ground blind I brushed in on my food plots last week and some pics of the crops. Soy beans that they are hammering right now. Wish I could sit over this field some evening soon. Turnips and Buckwheat, they are nipping the leaves off the buckwheat pretty good too. Turnips and corn.
Yeah, but it might be a while into the season before the deer use them on a regular basis. There are tons of acorns in the woods right now. The deer never have to leave the woods to find food. That just means there will be plenty of it left come the nasty weather of late season.
Yeah, I'd say that's a plus. Mine are doing pretty good. One that I planted for my father in law got smashed by the deer already. The rest are holding their own. I want to get some pics of each as I planted more this year than any. I still hope to get some late oats in at the cabin, but I have to find the time and the help. Maybe this weekend, but the wife turns 30 on Sunday and I am still sitting on a blank at this point.
Looks like I should be in a tree Wednesday evening after work. It's really getting close now. I have a spot in my subdivision that the does usually bed in. I can climb a tree about 70 yards or so away and they usually head down by the creek where I'll be waiting. I haven't even scouted it all year. I'm just going by past experience.
