My back is feeling good enough to be setting in a treestand. I hope I can put some more points on the board for us.

Well guys. I killed my biggest buck to date this morning. But to start off, can't use him for contest cause he was killed with a rifle. But who cares! Saw 7 bucks this morning and he wasn't even the biggest one. Got in stand early and waited for sun up, I was hunting a creek with white oak trees all over the place. Around 8 a small 8 pt and a doe walked by and I drew back on them but couldn't get a shot. Then at 9 I had a big cowhorn come through and shortly after him came my first buck. He was running around through the trees so I grabbed my rifle and shot pretty quick. I was excited, he then was my biggest buck. 20 mins later a see horns walking. Pull my binos out and it's a nice 10 pt. I grab the rifle again, but can't get on him for all of the trees. After I lose sight of him, I see a big body coming from the direction he left, he comes and sniffs the buck I just shot and POW! He runs 20 yards towards me and falls. But this isn't the 10 pt I just saw! It was a palmated old 8 pt. And of course, after these 2 are down, the 10 pt comes to sniff both the downed bucks! I let him walk, didn't want to take 3 deer in one sit and he will be a nice deer next year!

Two more nights to work until VACATION!!! I am planning to hunt a little tomorrow morning before work. I've had several bucks showing up at one of my stands. Need wind out of the West or Southwest for a morning hunt. Weather forecast is for SW wind in the morning.

A good friend of mine has a 12 year old son that has been trying hard to kill a deer with a bow this year and has been struggling. Last night I took him to a "honey hole" of mine and with about 15 minutes of shooting time left, he got a 12 yard shot at a mature doe and took it. The hit was just a little far back so we opted to back out. This morning, I took his Dad out to help track and we found her after about 200 yards of a very faint trail. Its too bad that his son had to be in school for the tracking job, but he is still very excited to get a deer. Lots of fun!

Also, I let a 150ish 10 walk past at 10 yards. He was around all year last year and I just want to see what he might look like next year if he makes it. I think he is 4 1/2 years old. I am having trouble getting on to really good bucks this year so he may end up being in trouble later in the season. lol I am just starting to hunt now and will get a doe for our points soon!

I got to hunt last night for myself. After two days of rain, it stopped at about 2:30. By 4pm I was in a tree overlooking cut corn. I saw 9 bucks but 6 of them were dinks. They were really moving. One was a decent 2 1/2 year old and the other two were toads. I may have screwed up letting a mid 150's 9 point walk right past me after grunting him in. If he was a 10pt I would not have hesitated for one second. I picked up the bow and hit him with the range finder but hesitated to shoot. The other buck that I had just seen was a much better 10 point and I guess I just was not ready to punch a tag yet. I will be back out this evening and will hunt hard this weekend. Good luck guys!
