Congrats Z7 on your doe!

 

Saturday will be the first day of our season....so I may not be on as much....lol

 

Starting to look like I won't be getting my vacation next week. I work for USDA, if those a**holes in Washington shut down the government I will have to report to work Tuesday. I am considered to be an expected employee. Which means they expect me to be at work. All paid leave will be canceled. The relief inspector taking my place will be furloughed and sent home.

 

That blows RB. I hope they get everything figured out!

 

Started off the year in SE Ohio on public land. First morning everything was failure. Didn't see anything, got in late and my stand broke fortunately I was holding onto the tree still while I was setting my harness up.

We decided to move stands to where we saw a couple shooters walk out in the morning. While my buddy was hanging his stand I went on a walk and successfully stalked and killed a coyote with a 40 yard shot.

That night I saw a few does that I had to pass up because of the drag distance. This morning we bumped a few does and didn't see anything.

 

My first day yesterday wasn't too good. Didn't see a deer yesterday morning. Yesterday evening seen a nice 6 point...too far to shoot at. I will be back in the woods today around 3. My friend who hunt on my land with me shot a nice 8 point yesterday morning.

 

Put 50 on the board for me. Fitz....can I email you the picture and you post it? I can't upload it on here for some reason.

 

Shot at 4:45pm today 9-29-13.
PSE Revenge, Carbon Express Mayhem Hunter, Swhacker 100gr. 2" broadhead. She fell in her tracks...lol. Easy tracking. It was a very slight cornering away shot at 16 yards. Busted one lung and logged behind left shoulder...gotta love them Shwackers....lol.

Ok guys, contest update.

I just posted the current scores. It's way early, but we are still tied for 2nd place, and that's without Shed's buck, Bootleggers doe, and Luke's doe that he shot last night. We are on a roll and states like IL haven't even opened yet!

Bootlegger was only able to get the one photo so for now, his doe doesn't count. Word on the street is that he has a handful of doe tags burning a hole in his pocket, so he'll most likely stick another one. This is a good reminder that we need two photos with you, your bow and the deer in it to count in the contest.

As long as we keep popping does and the occasional buck, we really do have a shot at this thing

I got home from my trip yesterday at about 1 and decided I was gonna hit one of my stands for the evening. 20 minutes go by and 2 does come into range but I couldn't get a shot. I soon get a text from Caleb saying he shot one of our well known bucks. About an hour before dark a doe comes out at about 20 yards. I draw back and she turns broadside. My arrow breaks her front shoulder and passes completely through. She makes it about 15 yards before falling over.



Fitz.. I didn't take a single picture with my bow in it and I she's already skinned and hanging.

 

Try and get two with her hanging, otherwise it'll have to wait for another doe if you have the tag.

Either way, congrats on the doe!

 

Actually I can take 3 more does with during bow season.lol. I still can't believe I had my neighbor take one pic. Just wasn't thinking I guess....lol. It's all good. I took off all next week. So I'll either shoot one more doe off my property or take one on my lease. I even took a picture of her from my treestand after I shot her. Too bad I wasn't in it...lol. Sorry about that guys...I'll make it up to you all though.

Well, guys it's official. My vacation has been canceled. Thanks to Congress playing politics! So its back to work Tuesday afternoon. I should be able to re-schedule it for another week. I still have the week of Halloween off if they figure something out in Washington.

 

I'll try to whack another one next to get us 50 in replace of the one. I'm gonna take like 10 pics this time...lol. I still can't believe I had them take only one pic...WOW! I'm am a Goober! Sorry guys

Looks like I'm gonna have to wait till tommorow for another 50 points right now! Didn't take the pics of the doe hanging and she's in the freezer.. Whoops! But Tommorow ill be back in the stand at a new property on a corn field line waiting for something to walk by.

 

Sorry guys been so busy will get it done this week.. Congrats to you guys whacking does, I have a doe tag that opens up Oct 10, I will get one here or in Iowa
