Just got in. Was a frustrating no. Neighbor decided to have a fire/party and excitement in back yard. Had everything on edge and changed up. Had them coming in closer for last half hour. Could see approaching through brush finally. One min to go in shooting light and one got his body in lane but I didn’t get a good sight at his head, glimpse of antlers but in last light not enough to know which he was. Think he was fork or small 6 so passed. And blew good on way out and few others. And as I started typing this sounds like the party also is having fireworks... so everything should be on edge for a while. Nice seeing a few, but not white flags in the near darkness. Might let them settle a day or two before next sit. Hate to whine but not how I envisioned the evening going

Great weekend guys, got permission for the property beside the one I'm already on. Did a little scouting, picked some paw paws, and talked to Grampa, he is 83, and he is switching back to the compound this year. I think thats pretty badass

That’s awesome to hear. Congrats on the property and I agree that’s awesome. I’ll be happy if can live that long, hunting compound then is insane. Good luck to him as well, hope he does great

Did my first sit of the season yesterday afternoon. It was more a dress rehearsal than anything else. I like to go through all the motions and make sure things are the way I want them at my spot, for when it really counts. It's still too warm for me, because I have a fairly long/steep hike in, and I sweated even taking my time going in. I did see one doe behind me in the thick stuff, but I had no real intention of shooting her. I said to myself, "do you really want to drag a deer out ( a mile) in this heat"? A very quick "no" was the answer.

Good luck! The first sit of the season always feels strange to me. I guess since the woods had a year to grow, it just looks a bit different.

I’m gonna be eager to let one fly on a doe for tomorrow’s opener. Just letting y’all know so if see some little raggedy doe on the scorecard tomorrow don’t be surprised. I get 8 doe Tags and 2 buck tags in Tennessee. So I’m not afraid to smoke the first brown thing I see

Good luck out there coming up guys. Sounds like some good chances for action. I checked cams again yesterday. The place was spooked empty since that sit and the disruption. Not shocked. And heat wave didn’t help. Next week cools down. Hopefully stirs things up again too. Figured not gonna rush sits and make things worse. Saw a little 6 around again last night so hopefully picking back up again.

I'll check my cams this Sunday. Been 2 weeks, so my hopes are high, as I've yet to see a shooter this season. I'll share anything of interest.

Nothing to write home about on the cams. Just a couple doe, a spike, and a 6pt. Still no sign of a shooter.

I checked my camera yesterday. Only one decent buck so far. My batteries died after two days so, I hope to get a few more bucks the next time I check it.

I got skunked yesterday evening. Sat on inside creek bend in woods between 2 crop fields, 5 intersecting trails, heavily browsed plants, buck skat everywhere on entrance side, fresh rubs and all I saw was a raccoon, squirrels and heard 2 soft grunts
