Was in before first light today, and hunted until about noonish. No deer seen at all. Kind of disheartening sitting that long during the rut with no action. I'm hoping for some cooler temps later next week to at least keep the bugs in check!! These 70F temps keep them active.

That’s how my sets have been. The days we’ve had 40 and below weather I’ve had bucks 30 yards in front of my stands Fighting, and Chasing does on my cameras. Unfortunately the colder days I haven’t been able to get out and hunt. Seems every time I get to go out it’s 55 plus. I reckon they’re still rutting it’s just they’re doing most of it at night from what my cameras have shown. Maybe a cold snap will get all of us some horns in the hands.

No luck on my Buck. I’m thinking brisket hit with the sign I found. Searched everywhere, hands and knees trying to find blood, grid, nearby water and bedding. Praying I see him again but I’m sure he’s hunkered down somewhere resting.

Well I’m pretty beat between the heat and slow activity. Public got hit so hard with traffic yesterday that I don’t think there was a deer on the public I’ve been hunting. Pulling out and hunting my family farm all day tues. gotta have better luck there

93E46E18-B692-4B18-9BED-F312640BB7A6.jpeg Full disclosure. Hunted quota hunt on Saturday. Thibuck showed up on opposite treeline. Thought he was much bigger as he was about to disappear into brush. 260 yards. Tagged out on bucks in Ky,but can still get a doe here. I have time and funds to travel too another state,so may go to Indiana or Illinoisto bowhunt more.

Tomorrow will be the first day I’ve hunted the farm this year. It’s 2 hours away. But last 3 bucks I’ve harvested have been on the farm. Hopefully they are on their feet

Good luck out there. Hope it works out.
I’ve been watching pools form in my yard with heavy rain all day. Maybe it’s a plus since rifle time started weather hasn’t been cooperating. Might get out again sometime this week. Timing hasn’t worked out with kids home and all. Supposed to cool down again and maybe be fall again. Well see how it goes

Congrats on an awesome big buck! Looking forward to the story.

Got a shot with rifle. Rushed it and blew it. Nothing huge but woulda been a nice one. Had a lot going on and on my mind and this seasons just not coming together. Still time but we’ll see how it goes

Got into stand on Thursday at 2:00. Had a doe getting chased into range along with a small 8 point. This happened within first 15 minutes. To shorten up the story. I ended up having deer all around me. 2 eight point bucks right below me with does in food plot in front of me. Wind was in my face and started SW, switched to W and then NW. The wind worked well with this stand as I’m very high up and ridge drops off behind me to the East. Probably saw 15 deer. Saw a nice buck on the ridge and he disappeared.

20 minutes later I see a buck coming from the same direction. I have no idea if it was the same buck. I don’t think it was. It was cloudy and dark. I had my binoculars on this deer from 150 yards out to 30 yards within range and I couldn’t pick up his tine length. He was coming across corn field. I thought he was wide, but I really didn’t know. Thought he was a good size deer. Didn’t have long to process. Got bow pulled back and stopped him straight in front of me at 15 yards. Double lunged him and saw him run 30-40 yards and crash.

Deer is hanging at our farm. Gutted and skinned him Thursday. I’ll bone him out tomorrow or sometime this week. It is cold enough to let it hang. Hopefully I can get him measured. I would guess 125 plus or minus. He is a nice deer for our area. Not a great deer. With that said, I’m very happy how it all turned out. Really great sit with all the activity and he couldn’t have come in any better. Shot him at 5:10. Legal shooting was until 5:18. 5:10 seemed like I was pushing it because of it being cloudy. If he was 30 yards out I don’t think I would have been comfortable shooting.

I’ll still get out and try for a doe. Best of luck out there.
