Great Double Greg. You've now killed more deer than I've seen in 6 hunts on 4 properties and 6 unique stand sites. Going to a new farm tomorrow, never scouted it, never set foot on anything but the landowners back porch. Where we watched 3 deer in his back field in the fading light. He pointed to the corner and said that's the old apple grove. :) If theres a climable tree near the old grove, thats where i'll be.

This farm is surrounded on 3 sides by a public hunting ground of some 2500 acres.

Hey Greg, you need to post up 2 pics of your doe in the scoring thread so we get the points on the board.

We get to count nannies in this contest you know.

Well Guys heading to PA Weds Night for the remainder of the week. We have a Camp in Clarion.
Will be hunting with Dad and my Uncle. My self imposed minimums fall somewhat drastically in PA
so if I score there first, we'll have to take it. ;)

No problem Gtude, don't change your hunting for this contest.

However I have this certain 10 pointer I can't get off my mind.

yeah Gr8, get what makes you happy. I'll be hunting with the longbow a lot this next few days. I'll be in camp in east Tx from wednesday - Sunday. If I see a spike and have a shot with the longbow I'll take it. I have never killed a deer with Trad gear and I won't pass one up.

I had this guy come out at 200 yards and got to tremble for over 15 minutes while watching him through my binos... I'll be set up exactly where he and a smaller buddy came out tomorrow evening in hopes he's consistent. I've always wanted a buck with a sticker, and he's got an EASY 2" sticker coming straight off his right G2, maybe 3"... I want him BAD. :D

I hope you have better luck than I did tonight. I sat on the trail my big 10 pointer came out on the other night. It was just the type of weather I like to hunt in. A cool drizzly evening with a good breeze blowing. I saw 1 squirel the whole sit.:bash:

    Sometimes that's how it goes.

HA, I wish I had one tied up for ME!! I am not seeing much at all in the mornings lately. I do see lots of deer in the evenings tho, so that helps.

I am gonna try a couple of new spots this weekend. I have lots of options, but when I see good deer movement I tend to stay in that area. I need to hunt a few of my other spots just to see what's there.

It should start to get good here in a week or 2. This cold snap should really help get them on their feet a little more too. Hell I didn't like walking around in 85* weather.

Well if last evening is any indication this weekend should be interesting. As much as I wanted to hunt, I had to attend a meeting for our NWTF Chapter. I left my house about 5:45. I saw 10 deer before I was out of my subdivision and everywhere I drove I saw deer. Even saw a buck making a scrape 50 yards from the road. This cold snap must have really turned them on.:deer: I'll be at my place all weekend.

Good luck to rest of the team.

The big 10 was back again and he has some friends this time. I found a very active scrape. I hunted across the field on Saturday evening 30 yards away and had a little 6 pointer chasing every doe in the field for an hour and a half. He was grunting up a storm.
    Here are some pics.

Oh and I passed on both of these bucks. The bigger one is pretty blurry, it was getting dark and I just put down my bow after I decided not to shoot. He is probaly a 120+ 10 point. Real narrow and not too tall.

I had that big 10 point at 25yards tonight. Just one problem, there was a branch between us and no way to shoot thru it. I heard him chasing does and grunting up a storm in the ravine behind my stand. One by one the does came thru headed to my food plots. Then I saw his rack coming so I ranged the trail the does had taken at 25 yards. When he entered the shooting lane I grunted at him. He took 2 more steps and stopped with the limb between us. I finally let down as he walked into the food plot and worked a scrape. I grunted at him a few times and then one of the does blew and they all took off.

That's the third time I have drawn on that deer, and have yet to release an arrow. I guess he has 6 lives left if he was a cat.

Guys I just got back from 5 days at deer camp and the freezer is still empty. I saw plenty of deer but no shot opportunities at legal deer. I saw the same basket 8 4 times and several fork horns and one small spike that was legal but I didn't want to shoot. Every doe I saw stayed just out of reach. I'll get back out there this weekend and try again.

Good luck Tx you'll get em in range one of these days.

Hey Gtude where's that buck you got down? We are in need of some points brother.

I am off work tomorrow and Friday and will also be out hunting this weekend. That gives me 4 days in a row of prime time rut hunting. I am feeling really good about connecting on one of the bruisers I have on trail cam this weekend. They outta be getting real stupid pretty soon.:deer:

Good luck team, lets stick it to em.

I'm getting sick today at about 12:30. That will put me in camp at about 4:00. Just enough time to get out this afternoon. Of course I'll still be a bit under the weather tomorrow!
