Ok team, no more worries. I just got inside from shooting a dozen arrows. I felt some pressure and a little discomfort when drawing my bow. But I am sure when a deer walks out and the adredaline kicks in I won't feel a thing.

Good to hear, John... not about the contest, but just that you're getting better in general. It'll also be good to know that you won't have to draw but once -- after the adrenaline has kicked in to boot. :)

I'll be hunting Monday in MO. Not sure if I'll be taking the day off and hunt both morning and evening or work and just hunt the evening.

I will make a decision tomorrow after I see how much rain IKE dumps on us and how fast he leaves.

I have decided to wait till tomorrow afternoon to start my MO season. I just don't feel like trying to cross a couple of small creeks in the dark tomorrow morning after 4 inches of rain today. I will feel much better waiting till after work when I will be able to see how deep the water is. I'll keep you all posted on how it goes.

I'll be going out mid-moring in an attempt to catch some does one of my co-workers has told me loaf through his back yard frequently.

I've got two requests for deer meat already... Add that to my requirement of five, and it's gonna be a busy year! :D

I'm waiting for the 27th too. I got on the new land in east Tx and I'm excited about it. I'll hunt west Tx first though. I like this ability to choose where I'll hunt. I've never had that option before.

No sightings this morning, but halfway didn't expect to anyway. My co-worker hadn't been seeing the group come through lately, but I just wanted to sit in a tree on opening day. Beautiful scenery and the temps were freakin' AWESOME!!!!

Well I watched one of the big guys tonight at dusk he amples out about 7:50pm. Since I seen him last, he has gone from velvet to hard horn. :( Man how that make's em shrink lol, he'll still go a cautious mid 130's though. But next year..... <cough cough>... he'll look the same, cuz, if he comes by me this year, he'll be mounted on my wall next year! :)

Well guys my opening day hunt this evening didn't quite go as planned. I was sitting in my stand in the neighborhood and about 5:30 I hear a loud crashing noise come from where I am hopeing the deer are bedded. I turn to look that direction and see 2 deer running my direction. They flew thru my shooting lane airborn going 9,000 miles per hour. A minute later a black lab comes sniffing down their trail. Needless to say I was pissed . That was the only action I had tonight.

Gonna be heading out again tonight, and this time to a real hunting spot and not someone's back yard, LOL.

I will be walking in blind though as I haven't done any pre-season scouting. Just my Lone Wolf Alpha Hand Climber, my BowTech and me looking for some hot sign... hopefully I can put up 50 points on the board soon.

Yep, does are woth 50 points.

I don't know much about his rack. But if it's anything like his body, I have a STUD running around my property. Got this pic off my cam tonight.

Crap. I pulled up to the refuge I was going to hunt, and halfway back I ran into the backwaters of the Misissippi... Had no idea that thing was that high again. I was just across the bridge into Southern Illinois a few days ago, so it must have rose like crazy in the last couple days.

Greg, the IL River crested at a new record high near my house.

I would assume the Mississippi is rising dramatically with the bombardment of rain we have gotten.
