Yeah, don't get me started... My FIL is an interesting character. Kind dude, but he pissed me off this week. That's why I've been working so dang hard on their house, so they can move in there and be here a little less.
He's old school. Hasn't hunted since the 70's. Started hunting up here 2 years ago. Talked about how he could just shoot them in the head. I said "No", and explained where to shoot them. Pretty much my only rule. Year two, he made some comment again about head shots, I said "no". Fast forward to this season on Monday, he's walking out of my log blind back to the Lodge, sees a doe and shoots. High lung, splinter's from her ribs go into her spine and she drops. Dead Deer. 90 seconds later, he shoots her in the head. 10 min later, I'm walking up there, as I heard the shots. I see him standing looking the other way. I whistle. Nothing. I call his name. Nothing. So I start walking up to him. Get to 20 yards and I whistle and call again. Nothing. Then he raises his gun. I plug my ears as he shoots a 3rd time. He finally turns around and sees me and my confused look. "I shot it and it dropped. it was moving a little so I shot it in the head. I know you don't like that but... I could see where it was laying just now and could only see the head laying there, so I shot again." ... Yeah. Next time you can use your own blind on your own land, in your own camo and use your own rifle.
Oh, here's a link to a blank spreadsheet I made a few years back. https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B_jDMVX8qSvrdDNEeXJfRTVSUzA Knock yourselves out.
What a geek I love it. Are you sure your not an engineer!! lol you have hunted a little less than a 1/3 of the time on stand this year. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Bah, forgot about the time..............thanks for the response. Been meaning to sit down and do a write up on my last four days of Rut vacation but I have been slammed with work. Needless to say..................I spent two days looking for a "shall we say, LARGE" eight pointer I shot. Details later, got to run for now. Updated deer kill time in score thread. Dave
I wasn't able to hunt this weekend but I went in and checked a couple of cards. No bucks are daylight active. I don't know what to do about that. They were daylight active until season started now every picture I get is at 2:30am. Frustrating to say the least.
I just took a shot at a really nice buck. He ducked the arrow. I think I made a good shot if he didn’t drop. I’ve got it on video so I’m gonna watch it when I get home. His stomach hit the ground when the arrow got to him. 25 yard shot. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
This is the deer that I missed. He ducked my arrow like nothing I’ve ever seen. Watching the footage showed that if I would’ve aimed for the bottom hairs on him, it would’ve grazed his spine. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
