I use Atsko products for washing clothes and showering, and Dead Down Wind deodorant. But I think the real key to controlling your scent is to exfoliate your body/scalp. I use dermabrasion techniques to remove the dead skin cells when I shower. Then when I towel off, I vigorously dry my self with a towel, trying to get a deep cleansing. I've been using this process for decades, and while I'm not claiming deer do not smell me, it has been very effective for me. Of course I pay strict attention to the wind. But when a deer gets downwind of me, they may go on alert, but often they calm down and go about their business. Alpha does are the worse to fool, as they may investigate the source of odor, and just quietly leave if they can't sort it out. When I rattle or grunt, bucks will often circle downwind of the noise source - you better be at the top of your "odor" game to have any chance of success! If you want to check this idea out further, google "search dogs skin cells", and realize that deer and dogs share a common ancestor.

Went to Dunhams today and they had that Atsko laundry soap. I never heard of it. Always bought dead down wind. Picked up a jug.

I use huge amounts of baking soda and unscented ivory soap.
Have had 100s of deer downwind.

    Try it:biggrin:

Pulled cards today. Last time before all out hunt mode. This big bastard lakes in front of one stand during daylight before this camera caught him. He is quickly moving to the top of the hit list. Image1662260402.202284.jpg

You must have some pretty good targets if he is so low on the list.

You'll know when he's in range...

This is probably the best out of all the pics I’ve seen so far. Have some nice 8’s and a 10 that have been hanging around. Will have to wait until I get home to the computer to check all the pics on the cards.

Scouting went really well yesterday. Didn't find any oak flats that were raining acorns yet which was good since we can't hunt for two weeks. Here are some of the bucks from my buddies camera that we pulled yesterday. Hopefully we will both get an opportunity at one of them.

What’s everyone’s planned first sit? I know Agi said he was 7 days out.

Oct 1 here. I have a spot to go mid September but not sure I will make that.

Oct 1st morning sit then likely a scout afterward. Sunday will likely be a morning sit as well then maybe get an evening hunt in of not successful already.

Can't use any vacation time for hunting this year so stuck to Fri-Sun. Lose access to the special draw site on Oct. 15th. After that will likely not hunt again until Nov. on public. No real game plan there, 15k acres but being IL it gets a lot of hunters on it.

Ouch… no vacation time. Mines running low already cause I’ve been taking time off to remodel.

Probably September 17th when season opens. I hunt 100% mobile so I will be looking for the freshest sign.

You definitely have some good pics to go by. 10 days and your setting an alarm to get up early:tu:

Was out at the land this weekend and pulled cards. This big boy is on there several times, so that’s nice. Sorry, very dark pic. Weird though! About 3 weeks ago my deer pics really drop off by an alarming %.
    Not sure what to think.

If acorns started dropping could have caused them to shift.
