I hunted the edges of a bedding area for the past three days where I've had success in the past. Nothing, and that's why it's called hunting and not Safeway, lol...

Nothing like the sounds of those leaves crunching on a frigid morning

Will be heading out shortly. Our 9 day gun season starts this Saturday. Hoping for either a nice buck or doe today.

Heading back out shortly. Just made a pot of mountain lion and mule deer chili with Hatch Pepper and Turkish Chile. Setting on the wood stove and going back out…hopefully it’s better afternoon then the morning. [IMG]

Curiosity killed the cat, chili brought him back

Gotta ask about the cougar meat. Do you grind it all amd use it in bold flavored recipes, like chili, tacos and such or do you cut steaks as well?

Not sure of what kind of meat it is, red meat or more like pork/chicken and cook above medium rare. Or a tougher meat where slow cooked, braised or ground is preferred. Have to admit I would much rather try in a chili than a steak for the first time

So can't hunt this weekend. Shotgun weekend and while I have shotgun tags I can only use them in one county and use a bow on private land with them. Having lost the land I was hunting I don't know anyone else with land in the county amd it has a very small public land area. Not even worth looking into at this point.

I will get a 4 day weekend for Thanksgiving and a couple two day weekends after that. Going to ask a coworker about hunting his land even if just for a doe. Pretty certain he'll be gracious enough to let me, less than 10 acres but plenty of deer. Hell, might even be ablento get a fergie buck as well.

It’s some of the very best game meat you will find. It looks and taste like veal. You can use it anyway you’d cook veal [IMG]

You must have a pretty sweet trophy room trial.

It’s coming along! Seems like every year I am wanting to do something else. I am super fortunate to have been able to bowhunt from Alaska to Mexico so far. Seen some awesome country, and met some amazing people.
I often think about the Donny Vincent quote where he says “ if you want to experience fantastic things you have put yourself in fantastic places. “. I been trying to do that my whole life.

@trial153 It looks so cuddly and soft. That would be ideal for a soft mount. Curled up in the corner of the living room staring at the door.
