Had a first today… and not a good one! My good friend and hunting buddy were out moving a few sets of stands. I was clearing some ground cover for shooting lanes and apparently stepped right in a hive of ground hornets. Buddy! At first I thought a thorn got me right on my index finger I went to pull out the thorn and bee’s we’re all over me. I flipped my hat off - then my bag pack and took off running. Then my shirt off and harness at the same time. Then I looked down and I’ve got 5-10 bee’s on my jeans. Jeans off and hunting boots off. All the way to my skivvies. Stung about 14 times all together give or take. I’m alive. It wasn’t a fair fight. My buddy got my pants stomped clean. My shirt clean. Retrieved my bag
Damn that sucks! I hate bees!! Good thing your not allergic that could have been ugly. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Yep, all checked in and one hornet casualty. We have consensus on name as well. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
So now we are officially a team with a fearless leader. Now we just need the fun to begin. Unfortunately I have to wait until oct 2. Can’t get here soon enough. When can everyone else start hunting. I feel like I might be the last one in the woods. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Weather permitting, I'll be taking part of Saturday the 18th off and find a public spot for an observation sit to start the season off. I think I've got the area picked out already, but I'll do a little more light scouting the next couple Thursday mornings to get the spot picked out. Sunday morning, I know right where I'll be posted waiting for a doe to walk through to pick and hopefully shoot my first deer out of a saddle. The land owner wants me to take two doe from the local herd which has boomed over the last decade or so sure to the mismanagement of our zone. Nearly time to start the Live-From posts! How many of us have some sort of filming capability? Sent from my SM-N975U using Tapatalk
I use to film years ago but my camera crapped out on me and haven’t gotten another. I still have my camera arm and was thinking of using an old camera of my wife’s with video capabilities but never filmed from a saddle. I really want to start again. I am going to ask Santa for a tactacam this year. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I picked up the 5.0 last year after my 2.0 battery went bad. Unfortunately it didn't fit in the stabilizer mount that I already had, but I was able to make it work with clamping it onto my cam with the rifle/shotgun mount. It's clearly a better camera and the app is kind of cool to use as well. I doubt I'll use the app while hunting, but it's a nice feature. Sent from my SM-N975U using Tapatalk
Season here starts October 1. I'm hoping that the schedule stabilizes enough that I'll be able to get out more than I did last season. And I think you are right Happy, we were on the same team last year. I remember I had one guy on my same team four years straight. I'm going to seriously try my hand at filming this year. I'll post links to my youtube channel if I can put anything together that's any good.
3D course staying open until mid-October. Good chance they run into rutting buck showdown if I leave them out any longer. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Speaking of 3-d course I’m hoping to get to one tomorrow morning. The Lancaster archery club has a nice outdoor range and course set up about 4 milesfrom my house. Every Labor Day weekend they have a 40 target course. It’s a pretty cool setup and great practice. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Sat the last two night watched a shooter come out 100 yards away from where I thought he would the first night and last night had a little bucks and 8 does move through
Morning boys, just got back from a Maine trip. We need to change our team name. @twitch on Oct 11 last year I was doing hay for my animals and unknowingly ripped a hive apart as you might remember and it almost killed me. I'm not even allergic.
