Warm here today. Heading out in a bit to pile the food on the farm before rifle season starts in hopes I can hold as many deer during that time to keep them safe from lots of pew pews. Probably won't hunt it alot during rifle season unless cams tell us otherwise.

10 days, My farmer has another 80 that is mostly a cut corn field with a couple small pockets of timber and a draw that all meets up to a pond in the middle. He told me this morning he has been seeing tw0 good bucks. Going to take the kid over there with the .270 and see if he can get a crack at one of them if he doesn't let a arrow fly before gun season. He has been really patient this season. Past on some younger deer I thought for certain he would have wanted to take. He is like his dad. Hunt bucks for the antlers and does for the meat! :p

It would be so nice if Minnesota would cater a little more to the archery crowd and not put the general firearm season during the peak of the rut. But, alas, 9 days during the peak is orange army time. Then two weeks off; then back to a subdued orange army with two+ weeks for the muzzle loading crowd starting today. I'll have my orange vest and cap on again tomorrow... boo.

I just looked. Firearm season is 12/01 -12/12 this year. I would say with a late rut, moon cycle, and as warm as it has been a lot of bucks are still going to be moving around quite a bit during firearms season. It's a double edge sword for me. We have a lot of WMA (WIHA) around my farm and those properties get a lot of presure which typically means we start seeing a lot more bucks late season.

Headed out shortly. Yesterday was a good time with my son. He ended up getting a doe last night just before dark. Made a great shot from 150 yards. Dropped it in its tracks. Dead center in heart. He had some opportunities earlier in day but deer stopped behind brush. No bucks seen but the one old timer hunting the property saw a big one I the bean field in the morning.
He leaves around 9 and I’m loaded up ready to roll for a rest of the day sit. Fresh costing of snow from overnight but it’s melting quickly. Gonna take the bow and mt sons 243. I’m really hoping for a sighting of the one I hit in oct. and I want to have the gun to funish that story if he doesn’t get close enough for the bow. Next Saturday I’m planning on sitting all day as well.

As much as I want to be competitive in this contest. I am more glad to see you and others having a good season with your children. Keep persevering!

I wish our children wanted to hunt. They don’t want to kill things. I guess it takes all kinds.

Saw 9 does total and two small bucks tonight. Everything came in the last 20 min. of shooting light. Most my cell cams didn't show any deer movement at all.

Gun season ended on Sunday. Thank God! Sunday was the only morning I was able to hunt in the last 5 days or so and it wasn't a good hunt.

I will continue to hunt as much as possible in December. Probably going to refocus my efforts to my lease just down the road from my house that hasn't had much pressure this season. It's probably my best chance to kill a buck at this point - though I doubt it will be a slammer. At this point I'd just like to shoot a deer and get some meat in the freezer. I will not shoot a buck under 130" on any of my properties so it might just be a doe or bust deal.

Feed your family Have you gotten a doe down, yet? Sounds like no. That is 50 points and a feel good for the team. No worries here on 130 or less. You hunt you! It will be that much more if it is a surprise slammer.

Saw 15+ deer tonight. Hunted my local lease that I haven’t hunted much this year. Was nice to see deer again. One decent buck couldn’t get it in now range. Not sure I’d have shot him anyway.
