The next 2 weeks are looking great, crisp and rain free. Not to mention work free. I really feel like I'm be good to go tomorrow. In Venatione Veritas
This week looks good here also. Slight chance of rain 2 days but lows getting down in low 30s most of the week. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
We just got pushed into 4th guys. We need a buck to hit the dirt. Stay active. Keep pushing . Constant vigilance In Venatione Veritas
If the deer cooperate with the data I pulled from trail cams yesterday, I'll be in position tomorrow afternoon to get a shot on either that wide beam buck that stood outside of range yesterday morning or the small 8 that I got drawn on. Either one of them will go down if they present themselves. Wind will be perfect for the spot! I just have to pick the tree with the best vantage point. Sent from my SM-N975U using Tapatalk
I’m up for the evening. Wind is good and I can see a long way down over the hill. Bedding about 200 yards to my right on steep hill. Scrapes about 125 yards below me in hill by creek. Still acorns everywhere in here. Good luck !! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
This week is looking like no sit. I am want to hit Friday evening. I could have the next two weeks prior to gun season here in Illinois. Sent from my Lone Wolf treestand using Bowhunting.com Forums
Very quiet sit. Had a doe come by just about the time I was getting down. Too dark to do much. Had to wait for her to walk away.
Been getting after it - my 5th straight hunt this morning. In reverse order... 11/3 - 2 fawns, 2 doe. Rattled in a small 8 point and 6 point. Came across the creek - beautiful to watch. I felt like I was reading a picture book with Whitetails just awesome! 11/2 pm - 3 spike'ish bucks pretty much all within 20 minutes of each other. 11/1 am - 1 doe/fawn in the dark. Busted at 35 yards by a potential shooter 8 at 9:20 a.m. as he was approaching me in thick cover. Hunts prior - nothing! I am pretty well versed in hunting thick cover - most of my stands are in that sort of a set up. But having not seen a deer in what felt like forever I got really careless and kinda leaned forward and put my elbow on my knee and hand on chin as I looked left just to relax and that dude had me pegged - he might have had me prior to that who knows?! I don't think he was a slammer by any means I got a pretty good look as he ran away. But a week from now he's probably one I would shoot. Back at it this evening if the wife still loves me.
The wife said the only thing better than 5 straight hunts is 6 straight hunts. Well not exactly that but hell I’m going hunting…
Had some descent action tonight only from 2 small bucks and 4 does. Back at it tomorrow after work. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
The better feeling than the recovery was when I got it home and both girls were very eager to look at it and pet it and good the antlers! The last time I brought home a deer, the younger one was 1 and the older one was very skittish based on there being blood involved. This time Hannah, the older one, wanted to see inside the cavity... until she saw inside the cavity. She didn't lose it, but definitely didn't want to look again, I had warned her in advance, and she came back to the head, petted it and lifted it up with the antlers again so she was fine. I'll write up the story after I get them to bed tonight. Sent from my SM-N975U using Tapatalk
Great job Tink, boys I'm getting stronger every day. I have a question. Who is killing this weekend? Some one call their shot In Venatione Veritas
I would like to say I will!!!! I’ve been feeling good about my sits but just need the deer to cooperate. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I'll not hunt until next Thursday at the earliest. Gun season starts on Saturday and runs through the following Sunday. So I won't be contributing for a week or more. Now that I've got a buck on the ground, I'm going to concentrate on being more of a father and husband for a few weeks. But I know where there are a few pretty regular does coming out to feed in the evening and traveling in the morning so I'll probably put one down in short order once I get back in the saddle (or stand).
