I wish the dang evening temps would at least drop so I could just let it hang overnight. Makes for a long night if I take one in the evening with the high temps. Makes me want to build a walk in cooler in the shop for sure....
Looks like team 9 just put a buck on the board. Going to have to get after them. For what it is worth I have been getting a lot of day light pics at 10 AM and 2 PM.
Had a fantastic hunt. Decided to get aggressive and go hunt the creek stand for the first time ever hunting this part of the property even though the east wind isn’t ideal. To my surprise with the creek/ridge thermals at play I kept checking my wind and it was almost always pushing to the west - opposite of the actual wind direction. Wild. Saw about 7 total doe/fawn/button bucks. 3 with if about 5 yards. Nothing winded me. Had a really aggressive momma doe running another doe harder than I’ve ever seen. She was running through the thicket and along ridges trying to shake her - it was like a rutting buck chasing a doe never seen a doe be that aggressive toward another doe?! A buck never showed - but it was a great hunt!
No hunting for me this weekend - working on a big drainage project on my property. Luckily I’m not missing out on a cold front - 80’s all weekend so probably wouldn’t have hunted anyway. I will probably not be in the stand again next Saturday when the weather starts to shift into more Fall like conditions! best of luck this weekend guys! I will be checking in.
No hunting for me either. I'm afraid of sunburn and we'll be in St. Louis for our oldest Son's hockey tournament. Following weekend we have the Lineman's Rodeo so Sunday evening would be my only time to get out that weekend. I'm looking to take some vacation around Halloween.
