Oooooooh I’m ready to kill. Can’t wait for opener. I’m hoping for an opening day doe but should have one in first week anyway. History shows if a big buck is to be shot on property it will be in first 2 weeks. I’m sitting on a hill as we speak with binoculars watching a spot that I just made a ground blind last night. Great spot if wind is perfect. Beans look like the deer are hitting them every day. Watching from 1/2 mile away seeing what comes out. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Saw 12 does and fawns from my observation point tonight. 6 came out next to ground blind I just made last night!! Gonna be a great spot for a east or south east wind which happens more than a few times in early season here. I’m super excited now Yellow circle is ground blind. Red dots are sets for my saddle. Spent the day repairing trails (ruts). Kid destroy paths so fast. Going to widen all my paths for winter so we can drag a tube behind. But hey, at least my girls are riding wheelers and not being crazy like other kids their age I guess In Venatione Veritas
Seems like it took forever but I finally have 4 stands up. 3 at our place and one at the lease. Come on cool weather! Almost 90 here today.
It's still hot here as well, though that's going to change towards the end of the week, Friday is shaping up to be a good day, rain on Thursday and into Friday morning, high of 70 degrees with NW winds of 5-10 mph. If that holds, I believe it'll be time to make entry into the saved property! Sent from my SM-N975U using Tapatalk
My opener is on Saturday and weather is looking good here. Mid forties Friday night into Saturday morning. Don’t think it’s supposed to get to 70 on Saturday. I’m so ready. Not to concerned with the wind. I have many sets waiting for different winds. Looks like it might be good for my usual opening morning kill spot Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Season starts Friday!!!! I'm going to be hunting every morning to try to catch up with a mature buck before they cut the corn and the patterns change. In Venatione Veritas
Really opening weekend in general is shaping up to be fantastic! Cold front all weekend... I imagine I will find as much time as possible to get into the tree stand. Hopefully Saturday morning. Saturday afternoon. Sunday afternoon. I will probably divide out my time on my properties to keep pressure low and see what's up.
The forecast keeps changing, but currently it's looking like it'll be go time for the big buck farm on Friday. Potential rain evening/overnight on Thursday and cooler temps with NNE winds. Prefect conditions for my ladder stand! I'm getting slightly anxious. Hopefully that weather pattern holds. Sent from my SM-N975U using Tapatalk
Honestly I haven't gotten any good pics out of velvet except a buck that made it to my no shoot list. I haven't checked the cameras in a few weeks though and won't until I'm near them for a hunt. I'm trying something this year and not sharing pics. I'm not very superstitious but man, it's been years since I killed a decent buck and I need to try something new In Venatione Veritas
