    Hot here again today!
Gonna try to pull a little honey and shoot a little this morning. Good Luck to all that are hunting!

My wife thought the freezer I bought was already too big, ended up having to switch gears at the last moment because the one I originally ordered wouldn't fit through the basement door frame... and she was against taking the door off. Crazy woman.

So the 8 that I thought might break into 130 shed and is no longer on the hit list. He will be great next year but is low 120s so I'll be praying he makes it through and stays on the farm.

Put two more stick sets out with lifelines. Next stop Oct 9 if wind and weather is right.

No shots fired, but it was a sweet night in the woods for opening day. Two doe, a small 1.5 year old basket 6 and probably a 2.5 year old basket 8, all within range! Just the wrong property to shoot a doe off of.

It had nothing to do with legalities. A customer of mine has a small acreage that is in an area that is overpopulated with deer and wants some gone. He's got a couple of brutes that I know of so in order to access that tract, I'll save my antlerless tags for his property and help with the thinning of the herd in that area. I very easily could have shot two deer last night, just not what I was looking for in terms of antler size of the bucks.

Sorry I’ve been so quiet guys. I’ve been keeping up, I’ve just been spending every spare minute I can trying to finish the renovations on my house.

No worries, when does your season open? Hopefully you'll have the reno done by then!

It's a fair trade for some of the quality buck you have in Kansas!

Work today through Wednesday, golf and hunt Thursday then back to the grind for Friday/Saturday. My typical week.
On a related hunting topic, would you fellas go back to the same area again if given the opportunity, just change spots, perhaps go a little further to the east? Hopefully something bigger is there, but no boots-on-the-ground scouting of this area had been done apart from the hang-and-hunt done Saturday afternoon.
Attached are pics of the entire spot along with a more detailed closeup of the spot in question. The yellow lines are the travel routes of the deer I saw.[IMG][IMG]

When I can get out. Too much scheduled in the beginning of the month. I work an hour away in the opposite direction of the farms. 1.5 hrs from work for one and 2.5 hrs for the other.Tough to get in the evening stand getting off at 1530.
