I remember the first few years I hunted in the early 80’s when you got one tag. Either a buck or doe and that was it. Pa is generally a little behind you might say with game laws and such. Heck last year was the first we actually got a few sundays to hunt. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I heard that about PA. There's a guy from PA that's in our TBI group. He was talking about how last year was the first year for Sunday hunting. Baby steps, Happy!
Another day from hell!! I hate dealing with subcontractors and scheduling them. I get it your busy but don’t tell me your going to be at the site to perform your work if you are not actually going to be there. Snowballs into a giant ****show. Plus most of them need babysitting and handholding. Days like today make me wish I was just a carpenter where I could just show up put my work in place and go home. That sounds terrible... I just hard about that kind of nonsense on the Meat Eater podcast the other day. If I couldn't hunt Sundays (being a car dealer), I'd only be able to hunt 10 days, provided the weather would allow... as I've got Thursdays off due to working every Saturday. Thanks to the state of MN for the right to hunt anytime I want to during open season. Sent from my SM-N975U using Tapatalk
Yeah I’m used to the not hunting sundays part. If they would allow all Sunday’s to be hunting days it could potentially add 12 extra sits to my season. That would be huge!! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I think I like this minimalistic shooting approach for practice now that everything is dialed in. I shot 3 arrows each at 20-30-40. No fatigue and all good shots. My 40 yard set. I’m gonna try to make this a daily routine until Oct. 2nd. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Soy beans are looking good after some rain last night!! In the bare spots I’ve put some rape seed blend to try and fill everything in. Again with the barns and such - these are not kill plots. This is a 15 acre pass through property with a lot of really good properties around my little 15 acres. I’m simply trying to hold deer in here a little better or make it more attractive to roaming bucks looking for doe come November. Just looking to catch a buck snooping around in the area 200 yards or so away from the plot in thick cover.
They are looking good. I’d eat em if I was a deer the farmers beans on the property I hunt don’t look that good but the deer are still eating the heck out of them. Beans are usually gone earlier than corn. He generally lets it dry on stalk and picks whole ears off usually beginning of November which gives them more cover to hide in but I definitely know where they are going to feed. Acorns seem pretty good in part of the woods this year also. My hot early season spots are on a flat that is full of oak trees that is bordered by corn and beans that acts as a staging area for them to much on acorns while working their way to crop fields. After a several day lull in activity beyond a cute little spike, I got this upload a few minutes ago! Sent from my SM-N975U using Tapatalk
Good luck from team 15, hope you all shoot beautiful bucks a few inches smaller then ours Hoyt Pro Defiant Easton FMJ Ramcat fixed blade
We had a late freeze that has really hurt the acorn crop. Our Pin Oaks in the front yard have quite a few acorns. May have to hunt on the front porch. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I use the same approach. 17, 23 and 28 straight away, then shoot 2 more rounds one from left and one from the right through small gaps. If the shots are good, great. If they are bad, learn. Shoot next day with lessons learned. Keeps me from grooving what is going to be one shot on hunt day. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Just open a window. Great box blind, bathroom indoors and quieter taking a nap and getting snacks. Sent from my iPad using Bowhunting.com Forums
Figured out that my early season starts Saturday, not today like I thought . Looks like I'll be throwing a few into the bag instead today. In Venatione Veritas
That’s disappointing!! At least you realized before you were sitting in the stand. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I actually found out at the range last night. I even bet a friend dinner and lost about it. In Venatione Veritas
