So I shot a decent 8 or 10 this morning. He looked like about a 120” frame, didn’t get a good look at tines. 20 yards quartering away, literally about 4” of penetration. I watched in disgust as he ran off. Not one but two mature bucks in a row. Different Broadhead this time. I gave up hunting 3 or 4 times in ten minutes. I gave him 3 hours, packed up got down, and slowly started the track

i found blood but I knew it was going to be a repeat of Monday. I worked slow. Blood started picking up. Came to a property line I didn’t have permission on. Backed out. Ended up getting permission to look. Turns out they manage about 80 acres for hunting. He also has a tracking dog.

So we’re shooting the **** looking for blood, walking in circles. It had dried up and we tried to cut the track every which way. He said he’d put his tracking dog on it after his son hunts in the AM. We’re kinda saying our goodbyes and he said “there he is!” Well it was a doe that had walked up on us. We watched her, talked, walked a little more, I was moving my hands when I was talking.

About 10 minutes goes bye and he says, if you wanna nock one and shoot her go ahead. I said “no, I don’t really have a shot”. Five more minutes goes bye of talking about why the doe might be less worried about us than what she was looking back at. Finally he said, “put that walnut between you and see how close you can get”

    32 yards that’s how close I got.
i wish I could say it was my mad stalking skills, but I think this doe had been ran to no end by little bucks. Fun and a memory I’ll never forget and a story nobody will believe!

Also didn’t get pass through on the doe but she went down in 40 yards. Taking the drop away off my target bow and retuning tomorrow. 3 different Broadhead all the same result. Rest is the only thing I’ve changed.

Has anyone noticed team 2's points have been running 50 over what they should have.

I went through the whole scorecard mage and added it up. Their points are correct but WesternMAhunter’s not listed but his points are added in. I’ll message Brad

Both hunts today were a bust. Didn't see a thing. Hitting a different spot in the morning. Hopefully my luck will change as well.

Just put o e in a decent 8. Sounded good. But he ran about 30 yards and stopped so I dunno. Gonna give it a bit before I get down. If I don’t recover this one, I’ll be really upset with myself.

Copy and pasted from the LFTS thread.

Well no blood at the area i shot him, no arrow either. Heading to the house. He was quartered pretty hard. Here’s my theories:

    • not a shoulder shot bc it was back
    • not a gut shot bc the arrow would zip through and it’d be laying there
    • not a brisket hit, bc there would be white hair and decent muscle blood
    • not a miss bc the arrow isn’t here or stuck in a tree

    so that leaves:
    • running it in through the back of the ribs and up into the chests cavity? Hope to find blood on up where he stopped. If he’s still wearing the arrow, he should be dead. It’s a Magnus black hornet so it’ll but forwards and back

It sounded like a low pitched pop. Opposite of a crack I guess

I don’t know why I’m having so much trouble this year. I shoot indoor leagues in the winter and 3D all spring and summer. Then put new strings and cables on my hunting bow and shot it up until season started.

Well hopefully, with a steep quartering angle you should have caught the opposite lung on the exit.

He’s hurt pretty bad just bumped him. He bedded within 100yards of where I shot him and only made it about 40 and crashed. Backed out and swing around down wind, going to try to move up on him slowly and get another shot

Take it easy on him. Sounds like it's just a matter of time. Looking forward to the pics.

He’s headed east and I have plenty of permission east. There’s a pond on the neighbor so he may be trying to bed up near that pond

He may actually get in the pond. Badly wounded deer look to get in water.

We went back in, I went to a pinch point between 2 sink holes. My brother in law went back to last blood and started tracking back to me. I was on the ready. After we bumped him, he was barely bleeding. Found some chunks of fat. I knew there was a hole in the fence on the east property line so I went there. Found another piece of fat. Went and checked all around the neighbors pond. Went on further just glassing and looking. No good.
