I'm all set for tomorrow, got the recurve ready for the morning where I'm going in and then for the evening, if the morning isn't productive, I'm going to bring out the compound just because my location will be different. The morning sit should be decent if the 8pt is still in that area, he's nit a giant but id be tickled to shoot him with a recurve, but there's also a nice 10 that's been in that area. The hard part will be is nit knowing what exactly the pressure will be like in that specific spot; the land around d it gets hammered by squirrel hunters but this particular piece I'm going up on is a pain to climb and to drag a deer out will be brutal but I'm hoping that will deter some folks. In the evening I'll probably sit by a pond at my inlaws and see if anything comes out. im running with the XOP retrograde that i just picked up and will be doing hybrid sits this fall which im looking forward to. Anyone else heading out in the morning??

Welp, I've happen to come down with some ailment that is absolutely kicking my butt. I went out this morning off 2hrs of sleep and that made things worse. On a positive note I saw a badger which was my first time seeing one. I also found that I really really like the retrograde stand, it's a small stand but being sub-average height it works perfect for me haha.

Well fellas, I went out tonight ad I was feeling a bit better and it was a doozie. I walked through some super tall grass uo and down hills for .78 miles, sweated like I never had before and finally got to where I wanted to be only to get set up and busted three times. At that point I was going to call it and got down and on my way back to the truck saw a nice buck about 150 yards away, I believe it was an 8 but I only had my range finder and could see some good tines, just don't know how many. Then saw two other deer as well. I doubt I'll be going back to that piece of public because I honestly don't know how I'd get a deer out unless I quartered it up. Regardless it was a really good experience for that specific piece and I don't think it gets a lot of pressure because of the difficulty of access to where the deer are.
In all likelihood I'll go back again, just need some cooler weather, That'd help tremendously haha. With the movement of the deer you can tell there's not a lot of pressure there, there are 4 different patches of oaks and then a bunch of Prairie grass and beans planted on the unit. Overall it's a good unit. Just a doozie to traverse.
