    Hey guys

Been working a lot. Was able to sneak out for a couple fast hunts the last two evenings. Seeing young bucks but things have really slowed down. Waterfoul season is going on here and everything is a mess with the duck hunter running all over. I am hoping they didn't make it into one spot that is 1.5 mile walk in. Course a lot of them use 4-wheeler so no idea if they wrecked that spot or not. I get to hunt in the morning so hopefully they have missed it so far.

In da... Congrats on the doe !!

Thanks guys. I was out on monday evening. Not one thing came by, no sounds nothing. but it was the youth gun hunt this past weekend, and this weekend it's a 4 day anterless only gun hunt. so no bowhunting until next week. This weekend will really screw with archery season. I'm glad I have that little private land to hunt on. but I will be taking my boy out for his first gun hunt this weekend, so I'm kinda of excited for him. he needs to shoot a doe here first to qualify to shoot a buck. good luck to the rest of your where hunting seasons are normal.

Finally got off work yesterday early enough to hunt. Course it was raining ( not a down pour by any means ). I am putting the rain gear to good use this year. LOL Had two does 25 yards and under but no shot. :bash:

I have today off so will hunt most of the day. Will probably still be raining this morning but at this point with 3 - 4 weeks of corn harvest coming up... I'll hunt no matter what.

    Good luck to you guys.

Was out tonight, the wind was gusting at 10-20mph, boy it was a little nipper up in the air. Not a deer to be spotted. Although the property kitty corner across the street were harvesting the corn. So don't know if that affected their movement, but we just did finish a 4 day anterless gun hunt this past weekend. How's everyone else doing? Is everyone getting out? What really bites is that I haven't heard a word from another property owner I plowed snow for last yr. I've left 2 notes and nothing. Don't know if someone is intercepting them or what, but at least have the courtesy to call & say I can't hunt. Good luck to those going out in the next couple days. I'm hoping to get out on Sat morn.

Nothing this morning, but a very nice buck is in the area. He keeps leaving his prints in the trail right where I'm hunting. I'm hoping I might get to meet him this week. I'm going to go out 3 nights this week.

Sure is quiet on our thread. Anyone getting out? What are you seeing or at least shooting at? Hopefully your luck is better than mine. I haven'e seen anything since I shot that doe. Going out tonight & a few times this week.

I haven't been out bowhunting in quite a while. But I will be hunting all this weekend, and hopefully I can put one down. After this weekend though, I won't be bowhunting until rifle season's over. Over Christmas break I should be able to get out literally every day of the break, so I should be able to at least get some points on the board then.
    Good luck to everyone

Well boys it was close today. I had a 6ptr walk in and stop broadside at 25 yds w/me at full draw. If only he'd had some more antlers. Well, maybe next yr he'll still be around. I'm hoping something bigger comes to me this week. It was really tempting though, really tempting.

Sorry for not checkin in guys.

Ive had some ups and downs, still hard at it. Elected to not reach for the bangstick this year, so I had bow in hand when I joined the orange army this weekend.

Ive spotted an absolute giant 160+ buck, who also spotted me on atv on ride in. I drive about 1 mile from my grandpas house park, and walk the last 8-900 yards....I now walk the last 1200 lol. Ive seen two 3.5 bucks from stand, one was a P&Y class 8, the other Im not sure rack wise....just saw decent head gear and a mammoth body. Had a deflection on a small basket rack 8 back two weekends ago, got caught up in the intense action of the hunt and shot at him for my first buck with bow, but after that miss on the deflection, I have passed him 4+ times from 10 yards, just looking for something a tad bigger. There is a 2.5 8 that has skirted me dang near every week, something is always out of place for it to work out for me to get a shot.

From all the deer I have seen, there are 3-4 bucks I wouldnt mind placing a tag on. 3 are brutes, 1 is just a smaller 2.5 8 that Id happily take this year just to get some antlers down with my bow.

Not sure what is left after the war zone on the neighboring property yesterday AM, but Im sure there is a big guy or 2 left, always is....they tend to shoot the first 1.5 that walks by, so once all 5 of them tag out on a little buck, they are done. screws up all the other neighboring hunters plans on passing deer, but they are out of staters from AL, so it doesnt effect them.

Ill be at it till christmas, if I dont get one by then, probably wont happen this season...after christmas I spend most weekends in the duck blind, but Ill still get some PM sits in after class during the week.

You'll get it done Trevor. After gun season, I'll be mixing up my weekends with bowhunting, and duck hunting. We'll see how that goes lol. It almost seems like the season's just about over with how much more I've hunted this season, but rifle season hasn't even started yet. I still got plenty of time to get it done with the gun, bow, and get some good timber duck hunts. We'll see how it goes, good luck to everyone.

Yeah, kinda hard bringing a knife to a gun fight. But that is the challenge. I plan on being out for the next 4 days for am/pm hunts. Have to work in between. Good luck to who all is still out there doing it.

nothing in 9 days! man this isn't good for the team. My last chance at bowhunting is tomorrow night. gun season opens on the weekend. that'll screw up the bow season for a week and half at minimum. How's it going w/everyone else?

I'll be in a duck blind this weekend, since I can't use an antlerless tag in the counties my family is going to this weekend. I'm pretty excited to get on my 3rd duck hunt of the year. Did great the first two times. The reason I won't be in a deer stand, is because of this My 08 gun buck. We just dropped him off at the taxidermist tonight, he's getting a full sneak right:cool: .
I should be back to bowhunting in the end of this month, and december will be almost fully comitted to getting my first with a bow.
