nice to see some of you all got some pretty decent land of your own, as for myself i am a public land junkie not lucky enough to get some for my own, not on my retired/va disbility that is. anyway originally from Missouri about 40 miles west of st louis out n the sticks, medically retired after 20 years in the army (medic) and now live in Tennessee. Though i am stuck on public land there is plenty of it and nice deer around here. so far the numbers/sizes are looking pretty good so far from some walk abouts i did the past couple of weeks. We open the last week of September, can't wait
Sounds good Steve!! My wife and i bought our land with the VA home loan, which is an amazing thing not needing any money down! This will be my third season on my land, before that it was all public land where if i saw a deer, it was an awesome day!
**Official Team #13 Thread*** awesome, so were pretty much at 5 vets now!! Team name ideas so far: We'll start with the military theme: 1. Seal Team Sticks 2. Uncle Sam's Dirty Dozen 3. Bucks By Vets 4. United Buck Ops (or just Buck Ops) 5. Blood Red Truck Bed 6. Bucknado the 13th 7. Back Home Booners 8. Till Tines & Naughty Pines 9. Bucks & Beers 10. Backwoods Beatdown (my team name from archery talk's contest) 11. Operation Big Buck Down any other ideas?
Yup, fly the Kiowa....except Army is in the process of getting rid of them. If I get the option to transition to another aircraft I will, otherwise I'll just retire
Just wanted to drop in and say Good Luck!! Team 9 is looking pretty good so far. You guys are stacked from the looks of this thread with current or ex military. I just want to also say thanks to my brothers and sisters that are serving or have served as well.. Semper Fi!!
Im not in the army but I wouldn't be bothered by the military theme out of respect to the 5 former/current military members. I am partial to number 8 though.
"as for myself i am a public land junkie " SRTIEK - My favorite spots are public land, nothing wrong with that.
Swamp was there already a house on the land? I heard it can be a pain using the VA loan to purchase land. House I had in Kentucky and the house I am currently living in/own I did VA loans on, but suburbs so no land I'm leaning towards Missouri once I retire, this move to TX should be my last before I retire. Unless I get selected for promotion, that would change plans up!
I haven't looked into it too much but there some kind of deal that you can buy land but have a certain amount of time go build a house on it. That's just what I remember from looking couple years back. Sent from my SM-G900R4 using Tapatalk
Schuls, there was already a house on the property. We were originally looking at land and planned on building but the va said, it would fall under a different type of loan category, and was not garunteed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
