Yeah not with temps in high 70s right now. one and only deer I saw I couldn't shoot. Lower Alabama and going on 3rd year of nothing is making me very discouraged with bowhunting. Very frustrating, maybe someday I'll find my own land or able to get on a good lease. Not to mention frustrating with all the trail cam pics we've pulled on his land and not seeing a damn thing on opening day which is also only day I can hunt before I move. Really losing motivation to continue with bowhunting.

Thanks everyone. I'll have that 50 point doe down before the season is over.

That sucks it didn't pan out today. I hunted public land my whole life up until my wife and I bought our property 2 years ago. It was a great day if you even saw a doe 80 yards away, I went my first three years without even drawing back on a deer, and almost 5 years before seeing a buck in a hunting situation, so I understand your frustration. Especially when your time to hunt is so limited, and the deer sign and pics are as good as they are, no doubt your frustrated! Hopefully when you get to Texas and get settled in, you can find some woods time to run and gun. When you put pressure on yourself hunting (sometimes unknowingly) it quickly takes the fun out of it and it's easy to lose sight of all the little things that are so great about being in the woods. Happens to me every time I see someone with a self film kill, makes me put so much more pressure on myself Because I want to be on BHOD more than anything......And....seeing what seems to be everyone else's success on the forum just adds to it. This forum is just a small percentage of bow hunters in the country, many people have been hunting for decades and go YEARS between bow harvests, it's not always a shoe in, even though it seems that way here on this site.
Example.. Today and last night I saw a bunch of friends and family who also hunt thatI haven't seen on years, and they telling me congrats on the doe, that that's a great trophy, they hadn't gotten a deer in years. My dad hasn't gotten a deer in the last 6 seasons, And he hunts weekly.
Hope that rambling made sense, keep your head up and just try to enjoy the few moments you get to spend on the woods, if it happens it happens, if not at least you were out there. Not tryin to preach, just some friendly talk!

Yeah it makes sense and sorry for my grumbling. I did put a lot of pressure on this hunt because of the time I have, and apparently hunting at Hood is a draw process and if your name is picked you are put in a stand so who knows if deer even pass by that stand or not. I'm going to try to get out one afternoon this week if I have the time. Movers arrive on Wed.

Well despite the warm temps I went out tonight. Saw probably 7 or 8 doe and one 8 point buck. Would of had a chance at one of the does but when looked across field and saw antlers I ruined that opportunity. Tried grunting at the buck and he wouldn't stop so I snort weezed at him and that got his attention but apparently he was on a mission to wherever he was going. Then in the process of all that one of the mature does picked me off and continued to snort and blow for the next 20 mins.

Overall was a good night in the stand and I was very happy to put eyes on one of the bucks that's roaming around. Honestly idk if I would of shot him because I know there's bigger out there but if he was in range who knows. He looked nice at about 200 yards so at 20 he may of been real good ha.

Just got back from my second hunt of the year. I saw about 16 or so doe and 2 buck. Most were while i was walking to and from the stand but thinking back i was close enough to one to get a shot off but I thought I could get closer. I think ill only get out two or three more times with my bow unless I score a buck with my rifle, so i'm hoping ill get it done next week. I also am probably going to hang a stand on a trail where i'm getting pics of deer every day for hours at a time.

I think my spot near home has has too much pressure between myself and another hunter. Going to stay out of it for a week. I haven't seen a deer in 2 weeks now.

Congrats on an awesome buck sharps! I'm hoping to take a few days off here this week because I'm not going to get out this weekend...some a $$ decided that this would be a great weekend to teach hunters safety! Aarrrgggg! My other half sat out tonight & on a high note, he had 5 different bucks come in & 2 does! Just hope he didn't muck everything up with his buck fever! He wasn't able to seal the deal....yet

Will do!! I plan on running my own live from a tree in Illinois thread capturing the whole trip. My hunting partner who I go with runs a thread on archery talk forums called west quest, live from the stand. I hate that forum with a passion, and only go on at to contribute to that thread. Its a DIY outfitter, basically it's a very low pressured land lease, only 2 hunters are allowed on this 400 acre farm, there was already one group on it last week, and it sits idle a week between groups. These guys arent out to make money, just provide a great hunting experience.
Here's some pics from last year:
