Wishing I had stayed longer with him after he was gone, they offered but I couldn't do it. I've had several pets over the years but he was my special buddy. Probably won't be on here for a few days, good luck in the woods everyone and thanks again for the thoughts and prayers.
Wow.. Im so sorry to hear that Schuls. It so sucks watching the fur babies suffer and having to make those very difficult decisions. Been there myself just over a year ago with my boyfriends K9 partner. Was sudden and unexpected, but still hurts bad. Keep him alive in your heart and your memories and know that he is now pain free. You will see him again some day...
What's your thoughts on this? http://forums.bowhunting.com/whitetail-deer-hunting/66014-new-prop-stand-cam-location.html
Seems like a decent piece of property. I see what looks like a funnel on the left hand, leading to the towards the rest of the property. Maybe you can scout the edge of the field and see what kind of activity you have going on there.
Some nice bucks there Junior. Well, the info I got from Auburn today definitely puts my mind at ease on whether I made the right decision or not. His liver, kidneys, spleen and heart were all showing damage and signs of cancer. Even if I had let them do a transfusion to run tests, he still wouldn't have had much longer to go. He isn't in pain anymore, and I'm going to do my darndest to put a Gus Buck down for him this year! Happy thoughts override the negative thoughts!
Anybody getting out anytime soon? Not me, with the warm front. I will be camping up by Black River Falls with a good friends family that just lost his wife at 38. He has 4 kids from 11-16 years old (twin 11 year olds). A memorial camping weekend. I do get to have my 11 year old son shoot his first rifle tho. Will be interesting. Will be a lot of drinkin after that.
i was but doing some honey-do work around the house this weekend, plus it's the archery opener Saturday and going to be a bit warm. honey-do work is my way of getting the rest of the season for me
wow, that's rough. Sorry to hear of your friends loss. Hopefully this weekend can help with the healing. I won't make it out until next weekend most likely. I'm thinking the oak grove next friday night. This saturday I'm heading up to VT to meet up with a majority of the hunters who go to the same DIY outfitter i go to for a cookout and a small 3-d tournament. I'm signed up to shoot but I'm nervous as hell, I've never shot competitively before, or in front of more than 2 people. It will be good to see some of the guys again, especially my friend Gary who is the outfitter's booker/representative. Great guy, knowledgable beyond belief! Has over 16 P & Y archery bucks under his belt from the past 16 years in Illinois. Impressive for a DIY outfitter operation! (no high fences) Here's a pic of the "wall" from last year. These mounts are from 8 people........
Ill be getting out this weekend for some apple picking and to hand some stands and a few trail cams. Sorry to hear about your friend kenny. And wow those are some nice bucks swamp! How much is the DIY outfitter hunt? If you don't mind me asking.
Kenny sorry to hear that, thoughts and prayers with your friend and his children. Hope you all enjoy the camping trip.
Not getting out this weekend, supposed to be in the 80's, got a wedding Saturday and have to figure how to get some work in between
sorry to hear about your friend Kenny. Too warm to go out this weekend I think, besides seems like another hatch of blood suckers came out!
So I'm sitting at home tonight and UPS drops a small box off that came from the Auburn Veterinary school. What I found in the box was amazing and touching, didn't even know they did this. So this season on opening day, I will have him in the tree stand with me!
That is awsome Shuls, so when the monster Gus buck shows up and your shakin with buck fever your pal will be there to calm you down...Perfect
Thats Awesome Schuls! That's a great thing/class act they did, literally brought a tear to my eye! I'd love to see more places do that. ATbuckhunter: my hunt is 6 days total, 1 day for scouting/hanging stands 5 days hunting. includes lodging at the camp, food is DIY as well. the small center of town in Augusta is 3 miles away with a few small stores and 1 or 2 restaraunts. $1650.00 Non-resident archery tag (1 buck 1 doe) is $421.00 license is $65 Sounds like alot at first, but if you look around, no one can beat the price in the area, AND it's DIY! Your stands, hung where YOU want them, It's a dream come true for me. Plus not all the money is due at once, just a 50% deposit in january, then the tags in june/july, and the remainder due when you arrive at camp. Makes it very doable. The farm I hunt (there are several farms leased)is right near the Drury's farm, and a few miles away from Stan Potts lease. Not trying to sell anyone on anything here, just letting you know of how sweet a deal it really is! They are booked solid this year, and there is a waiting list for next year if anyone who is going this year doesnt go next year. (another cool thing is once you book...that week and farm is yours garunteed for next season if you come back) Don't let that scare you though, when someone backs out, Gary starts making the calls and needs the booking slip signed and deposit sent immediately,,,things change very quickly when people get put on the spot! check out the website Outdoor Partners - Licensed Illinois Outfitter - Augusta, IL EDIT: if by chance you call or email, please don't mention that I said anything about pricing, I'm not sure what the exact current prices are if they have gone up or not.
