Just realized didn't mention anything about cams checked the other day. Ended up having a couple more bucks show up. I'm not sure the bigger one posted earlier in thread showed this time around but another good 9 point from last year showed his face. I'll post some pics tomorrow, overall it was a good pull. Now gotta see if I can be patient and leave them out rest of month like planned. Some nice setups you guys got for filming. This is mine so far, can't decide on which mic to get so that's only thing missing. I have a question maybe you guys can give me some input. One of the greatest conflicts I have had in my hunting career is dressing properly. I can never seam to get it right. I'm either to cold to hot to bulky and the list goes on and on. What do you guys wear for what temp and how do you layer.
Camera was 425-450 bought off eBay Muddy arm was 100 bought off someone on here fluid head was 120 bought off b&h photo remote was 120 bough off Campbell cameras. So roughly 900 total with all shipping included. I've also picked up a extra battery and that camo skin for camera but think that was only another $40-50. The battery is a knock off but seems to work and hold charge pretty good so far. Sent from my SM-G900R4 using Tapatalk
Got my last flight in an OH58D before we start prepping to move them to storage, such a waste of a great aircraft. Many memories in this bird on a few trips to the sandbox.
Pretty awesome man. I always did think it was amazing the stuff the military had just sitting around in "storage" ha Sent from my SM-G900R4 using Tapatalk
I think my layering has taken me about 10 years to get nearly perfected...sorry for instilling confidence with that comment...almost everyone I know and hunt with wears hunting socks. I don't. I wear regular cotton boots socks. I have found if I wear anything else, my feet sweat too much and then get cold with my muck boots. If my feet and hands are comfortable, I can sit all day. As for the rest of my layers, I dress for the weather that I will be sitting in. For me once the temp starts to chill out so to speak, I will have an under armor Tactical cold gear shirt as a base layer. Under armor has a great line of products and wicks away sweat pretty well, but there are now a lot of other brands which offer the same bells and whistles. My next layer is either my "R U Outdoors" quarter zip fleece or a light weight/summer weight quarter zip fleece shirt. If its going to be really cold, I have a military cold weather system fleece (I call it the "fuzzy bear jacket" )Then I have my camo jacket (which is not insulated). I usually walk into the stand with my jacket completely unzipped or off. You can always put layers back on before you get into the stand. The most important thing is to not get sweated up and then sit there and get cold. I had to work for some time to figure out what works for me. Its also important to remember to stretch and stand up now and again. this also helps to help the blood fowing and helps to keep muscles warm and from stiffening up!!
Hot or warmer weather I just wear my camo bottoms and base layer long sleeve shirt. As it gets cooler out I'll either through in camo hoody or start wearing jacket from hunting cloths. When it starts getting real cold out I'll throw on my base layer, UA cold gear, then on bottom half either just throw on camo bottoms unless it's real cold I'll put cotton long Johns on. For my upper body start with UA base layer top then either just a long sleeve t-shirt or the cotton top to long Johns then over that I have a fleece pullover then my camo jacket. The camo jacket and bottoms are kinda heavy so they insulate good. For my feet I just wear a regular pair of boots socks, found if wear real thick socks feet sweat and then get cold. I also have a medium weight pair of gloves I wear and just stick my hands in jacket pocket for extra layer. Don't really like bulky gloves, especially bowhunting. Most the time I just wear a ball cap but if starts getting cold I'll wear a beeny or ball cap and face mask that's tucked into jacket. Mostly all my hunting clothing is part of the UA cold gear line so it does pretty well. It's kind of expensive bit so far last two seasons it's been worth it. Like Junior said the biggest thing is to not wear very much hiking into stand, you'll start to sweat then get cold when your just sitting there. I'll climb up with only all bottom layer and only the base layer top on and then sit there until I stop sweating and start getting a little chilly then add layers until everything is on. i use a midweight jacket/bottoms with either a tshirt or long sleeve shirt under the jacket early season, then i have silkweight/thinsulate polypro undergarments for cold weather to go along with a warmer jacket and the long sleeve shirt. i use the same midweight pants since the silkweight/polypro bottoms are very warm (leftovers from military issue). just add hat/gloves/socks for the proper weather type and i'm set. my harness is next to my base layer so it is not in my way and can upgrade/downgrade as needed.
Shuls, you got the best job in the world...My dream job would be flyin one of those around....Great pic...Will you still be flying something at Ft. Hood?
I like to wear a base layer to start everything then ill wear regular camo jeans and a waterproof pair of pants over that. On top I usually wear a button down camo shirt over the base layer then a wool camo jacket over that. Im usually pretty warm until around mid November then I switch the wool jacket for a 2 layer jacket. If it gets really cold ill switch my pants out for thick camo overalls.
Damm fine aircraft right there Schuls! That is a shame. I'm thinking those were the same ones i saw nightly in Iraq buzzing the tree tops of the base perimeter after/during the nightly attacks on base. Using the thermal on my scope i could see the lasers on the helicopters scanning for bad guys. We always felt better hearing and seeing them!!!
You better just wait it out until the rest of us can go out, come on team player ha Sent from my SM-G900R4 using Tapatalk
