Sounds good too me, I was gonna ask about something like that. Last year team I was on shared phone #'s and we texted each other from stand. But it's whatever, I've never used a app so can't help there ha. Sent from my SM-G900R4 using Tapatalk
Don't have a smart phone myself, just the gov't issue dumber than dumb phone...Shoot me a PM if anyone wants my # and I'll get it to you. Still have a couple guys from lasts years team in my contacts
Scouting was a bust today, couldn't even find a crossing spot on the creek, just steep banks. Didn't even find a single sign of deer on a 5 mile trek. Oh well, I'll be checking out another area soon plus may get to do a hunt on a friends property. I'll only be able to get 2 or 3 hunts in before packing everything up to move, then I'll do my best to find somewhere in Texas and help put points on the board!
Looking at some property/house to buy & i know the deer & turkey tracks along with the neighbors awesome looking food plot shouldn't be deciding factors but dang!! There was definitely some promise in that last spot!!
That sucks the scouting was a bust! What base in Texas are you going to? nice LOL!!! My wife and I looked at several Houses/properties before our house and property found us! Some houses looked great, while the property was awful, and vice versa. We got a call from our realtor saying she had just gotten a house not even on the market yet, we went and took a look and it was like it was meant to be!! we put an offer in right then and there! The house was only 15 years old, 4 bedrooms, and the land was 40 acres of mostly non-buildable wetlands (no standing water swamps, just damp ground) surrounded by a couple thousand acres of the same.
LOL Thanks for the warm and fuzzy Swamp! Hopefully I can find somewhere to hunt around there, doesn't look like many options in the area for public hunting land other than on post and I heard that's not that great.
It could be worse Schuls.....lol!! One week from today I will be climbing up in my treestand!!! My doe tag is burning a hole in my pocket!! Anyone else self film or film?
Yeah that's true Swamp, I could be getting sent to Bliss instead lol! I may be able to hunt opening weekend of bow season on some private property of one of the civilians I work with, he bought some hunting land not too far from here and has a really nice bachelor group on his trail cams. If he does hook me up, I'll have to make a little thank you basket with the necessities of whiskey and some snacks!
I've got all the stuff gathered up to film this year. Will be first year kind of, had camera last year but that's hit so just got some footage here and there. Sent from my SM-G900R4 using Tapatalk
Nice!! I started self filming last year and immediately fell in love with it. I used cheap equipment because it was a last minute thing i decided to do in late august. I learned that i enjoy talking to the camera, lol and it's alot harder than it looks. When you scout and hang a stand, you have to take into consideration of getting the shot on film, making sure your setup is right so they dont come in behind you or your off side. Editing is alot of fun too. I roll a bunch of B roll footage to make the 5 minute shows more interesting. This year i upgraded to a muddy outfitter camera arm and fluid head for better quality footage. I decided to buy a new bow over a new camera, so that's gonna have to wait till next year! Here was my el cheapo set up from last year.
You bet I do...at least when my camera finds filling his tags are more important! LOL Filmed my bear hunt, but you guys will have to wait until it's done in editing and put out by "UP Full Draw" to see it...sorry!
Shuls, do they allow any hunting on base? I know Camp Ripley in MN has 2 archery seasons that they allow hunters in to hunt...
