My name is Joe, I'm from IL of course. I hunt about 1200 acres of private farms here in IL. I hunt Christian, Brown, Greene, Pike, and Sangamon Counties here in IL. I will be headed to OK and TX in Dec. to hunt hogs and then back to IL to keep deer hunting. Our season opens on Oct. 1 and ends Jan. 15. I am good for a doe, usually take 10 or so every year. I have a few bucks I'm wanting to drain this year If I'm lucky.
Here are a few pics of just a couple bucks I've taken off the farms and a few public land honey holes....

Most of the time it's just "IL" for short. I have been going by ILLbucknut since my state had 3 letters in it's abbreviation.

As far as "bucknut".... it's singular, not plural as in "2 nuts".

Very, very nice! Sounds like you're hunting in a deer hunter's paradise, Joe. Those are some fantastic bucks you've taken. I've only seen three deer of that caliber in my 8 years of bowhunting and none of them were even close to being in bow range. I'm starting to feel like I'll be dead weight on the team.... :D

I wouldn't worry too much! This is going to be year 13s time to shine! By the way we need to think of a team name.

We haven't really discussed a team name. I threw that into one of my replies earlier because I remembered a great old Heddon bass lure called a "Lucky 13".

Last check we had 9 out of 12 checked in. We could start throwing around ideas for a team name. Any suggestions?

At some point we'll have to come up with a team captain, but I think that if possible, it would be a good idea to wait until everyone has checked in before we go there.

It sure looks that way, doesn't it? We have a pretty strong line-up.

Honestly if everyone puts down a doe and we get a few bucks we have a great shot!

While I didn't intend for that to be the team name, I kind of like it. We'll see how others feel. In the meantime, is anyone good with graphics? We'll need an avatar at some point.

That's a fact, especially with some of the bucks this team has available. I'll do my best for a buck but I can guarantee does unless I get hurt (or something worse happens).

That reminds me... no riding horses for me until after season. Not long after I got back from Ohio last year I got thrown from my horse. Well, that's not entirely accurate. My horse LAUNCHED me about four or five feet up into the air. That's about ten feet of air. Some of you might not know this yet, but at 49 years old the ground is a lot less forgiving.

I hit the ground hard, broke two ribs and severly bruised the others on my right side. I was out for most of the remainder of the season. I did manage to get one more doe with a muzzleloader for a total of four deer for the season. Missed my goal of 8, though.

Honestly I had no idea exactly how big he was when I shot him I just knew it was a buck and I was pretty amped up!

Do you have any graphics in mind? Or anyone? Just so we can start throwing some ideas around!

Well, I'm not very good at this. Maybe someone else can come up with something better. Until then, assuming we go with "Lucky 13", how about something along these lines?

I think lucky thirteen might have been used other years. Also seems plain, just throwing some other ideas that involve luck. Lucky charmers, bad luck charms, Irish archers, black cat horseshoes, other names that don't involve luck. Full draw fraternity, venison vendetta.
