Got the boat all ready for the season. I'll be headed out to do some scouting tomorrow if I can get away from the old lady for the afternoon.
Hows everyone else coming along with getting ready for the season to open?

All I think I need before our opener is my tags, everything else is ready to draw blood.

I just finished spraying all of my early season clothing with permethrin and it's drying right now. I've got my quiver full of my best arrows tipped with NAP Killzones. Everything is washed up and ready. I have my Kentucky, Tennessee and Arkansas tags in my wallet. All I have left to do is put new shrink tubing on the cables of my back-up Summit Viper and I'll be ready to go. I'll be headed out Friday at noon.

I need to call my brother and see if they've started cutting corn yet. If the corn is still in the field I won't have very high hopes. I'll still go, but it would be a lot better if they'd cut the corn.

Cmesserges checking in. Hunting private land in NW Illinois. Put in a huge amount of work on the property this past spring and summer so I have high hopes for a great season. Cameras are showing some great pics of deer and turkey. Can't wait for opening day. Good luck to everyone and I hope to contribute some good points for our team.

I just checked my cams for the last time until season opens up, and I got a lot more daytime pics this go round. Also got a new buck, he's nice but young, so he gets a pass this year. I'll post up a pic of him later.

You have no idea, Doc.

Seriously, though, I'm happy to have been wrong. I do hope he posts every now and then, though. An open line of communication helps a lot. :D

He is not a big poster but I will get on him to keep in touch. He is a partner on my lease...and I have been hunting with him for 10 years. We have some really nice bucks on the property but too bad for you guys I will kill the biggest ones before he gets a chance.:woot:

I assumed that you knew him. I'll say this: If he's a partner on YOUR lease he's got to be a good guy. :tu:

That's okay. Given our line-up you can take the biggest buck and he can take the second biggest and we'll be just fine. :D

Looking at the first picture I was questioning your sanity, but the second and third pics really kind of make him look young. Still, I've got to be honest and say that there's no way I'd pass on a buck like that. Then again, I've never killed one that big with a bow or gun.

He's going to be a monster if he makes it through.

What do you think he would score, Cole?

Well, as captain of the Nock Stars, I have to say WELCOME ABOARD! Glad to have ya! If you didn't catch the posts earlier, we swapped numbers through PMs- if you would like to exchange numbers with the gang it's a bit easier to stay involved once the season rolls around.

    Hey, Greg and Chris,

You guys had a chance to get out this past weekend, right? How did it go, or did you not get out after them? Greg, did you not get a weekend pass from the wife? :)

Just wondering, what's the weather forecast for the rest of you this weekend? Where I'm going in Kentucky the temps are supposed to drop and if the forecast holds true the high on Saturday will be 75. The low will be 49. I'd better pack some long sleeves and a sweatshirt.

I remember the last time I was on the stand for the first big drop in temperatures. I doubled that day. Like I've said a few times, though, I believe it all is going to hinge on whether or not the corn is still standing.

Ive came down with some sickness opening weekend and still cant seem to shake it. I still managed to get out. I seen 4 does and 1 buck, a 3 1/2 year old that was still in velvet. Never got closer than 60yds. Not a bad hunt.

Man, that sucks, and I'm sorry you were sick. I know what it feels like, though, and you're right - that's a great hunt, especially for the first weekend of the early season. Just wondering,... if the buck had come into range would you have shot him?
