I edited the photo to show where my brother said they were bedding last year. It's a big part of the reason I decided on that spot.

That small narrow section of woods to the north isn't too promising. The owners (whose house is in the pic) have a walking trail through there that they use regularly and it's a lot more cleared out.

Was talking to my new "cousin in law?" Idk, but he mentioned hunting out of state and how cheap it is. He said Kentucky land between the lakes is like 150 for all permits. What's the cheapest/ best public land for money you guys know about?

I don't know about out of state stuff, I only hunt KS and TN on my grandpas land. I'm pretty sure KS is pretty pricey for out of staters.

Patrick- those arrows look too new and shiny, bloody them up

From what I've heard Land Between the Lakes is awesome as far as public land hunting goes, but your "cousin-in-law" was a little off on the permit prices if you're a non resident. There's the $130.00 hunting permit and the $60.00 deer permit. Then there is at least one permit to hunt Land Between the Lakes; two if you want to camp there. Still, it's pretty cheap compared to the other states I'm buying licenses for.

This is some public land that I plan on scouting tomorrow. I want to hang a stand on the peninsula after a boat ride, and the other tag is a good looking spot from the picture. Lots of water in this area. And bowhunting only most the year. Any tips would help but walking the land is going to be the best thing.

Thanks. I'll check those out. It's got to be better than just using the map on the phone.

I didn't know you had a minimum, Tony. Is that a new thing for you this year?

Seriously, though.... I'd shoot him. My teammates might not like it, but I'd shoot. :tu:

Of course, I believe I'd hunt a little farther away from school property. :D

Now you're just showing off, Cole. :)

If I posted a "Hey, I shot this once upon a time" pic you'd need to zoom in to see antlers.
