It is. One of these days you should get yourself a recurve and get practiced up. That takes the ground game to a whole new level. I've not been successful with my recurve yet. I've missed twice, though.

You'll become addicted to that thing. I guarantee you will. You've got to, as they say, bring your "A game" when you're hunting with traditional bows. I can't wait for my first traditional bow kill.

im from long island obviously and im 16 years old and hunt about 50 days a year during the hunting season so i get alot of time in, last year i managed to get a pretty good buck about 115 incher and a doe also.

im a state ranked wrestler in ny and im obsessed with working out, i work on a clam boat during the summer and make good money. im confident ill shoot atleat a 110'' and many does, afterall longisland is one of the most populated areas on earth for whitetails, so if anyone thought long island was all city and stuck up people.... thats only most of long island.

but no doubt we have some giant bucks, a guy i know shot the non typ record for ny state last year and i hunt right near him. if u wannna know anything else just ask hahaa.

I did the same thing. Wrestled 145 junior year high school, 160 senior year, and 184 first year in college. Be sure to keep your flexibility, know some guys that lifted and lost their flexibility and it hurt them later.

Well, I just got back from Mayfield, Kentucky. My brother and I scrambled around and looked at four different patches of woods. Around that part of KY there are small woodlots surrounded by cropland. Mostly soybeans and corn. The farmer who's land we're hunting owns thousands of acres of that type of ground.

I marked four stand locations with my GPS. Three I can use my Summit Viper at and at the other I'd have to use my hang on.

The first patch of woods we looked at had an actual carpet of poison ivy. Luckily I'm not allergic to it and neither is my brother, but I still decided to pass on that location even though it had the best looking sign.

My primary spot that I decided to sit on the morning of the 14th (wind dependent) looks fantastic. The patch of woods is only around 10 acres, which is pretty common there. The 80 acres on the east side is in soybeans. The 100+ acres on the west side is in corn. When they cut all of that corn it's going to be deer-crazy in those little wood patches.

The area I'll be hunting is criss-crossed with heavily used trails. I marked two climbable trees within bow range of two different trail intersections and a community scrape.

I would like to have looked into that spot some more but we were pushed for time.

At least I won't be going in blind on the 14th and I have very high hopes of killing a deer opening morning. It'll be very early in the season with tons of places to look at to hunt so I'll take a doe in a heartbeat in the first spot.
