You guys are awesome! I wish I would hunt on my own land or private land. Where I hunt, I am not allowed to do anything, can't put mineral blocks out, got to be elevated, can't bait. Just got to set up at the right place, which for me it is right now either persimmon trees that are falling down this week or acorns that are falling. I have gone 10 times out already here in SC and have seen deer three times out of 10 with no shot. I hope you guys kill a big one. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I was surely blessed with having family land to hunt. Even though I haven't killed any true monsters myself, my farm has produced some really nice bucks over the years. My brother killed this 199" in 2010 Though for some reason (and honestly it's the rise in popularity of hunting) the true giants have all gone extinct. After that 199" there was a solid 165-170" that occupied the farm, after he disappeared the biggest buck was maybe 155" and he disappeared 3 years ago and there hasn't been a 150"+ since. With the number of cameras we run and tree hours we log it would be next to impossible for a buck of that caliber to go unnoticed. From what we know a few in the 140-160" range have been killed within a mile or two since 2010 but the days of 200" being around every year is over. Too many 2.5 and 3.5 year old bucks get killed and the older bucks are so heavily pressured that they don't reach full potential. When I first got into hunting (2006-2010) there were 160"+ bucks showing up every year. I road filmed a number of 180-200" bucks back then almost every summer within a few miles. Since the boom in social media those bucks get killed before they reach that point now. And in no way am I suggesting I'll pass a 4.5 that may end up at 200" one day. Just not in the cards right now. Nice looking plots Simon! Same thing around here, 20 years ago, it was common to see big bucks with some real giants in the mix. Now a 140 is hard to find. Keep at it santiogo, it's gonna happen! Super bummed on last cam check. Let them soak 3 weeks and was chopping at the bit to check them. Coons turned one, squirrel s chewd the strap on one and the other had a corrupt card
Velvet is peeling, bucks are starting to move into their fall range, but my mineral licks are still smoking hot. Hope you guys enjoy. USA Trail Cams Flare on the camera.
Looking good simon. We finally had some rain last night. Hopefully it will get the fall plots going Been a month without rain.
Morning team. Finally got to shooting the bow. Gotta few creaks in the shoulder that popped up. After 2 months of no rain, it finally came 2 days ago. 8 freekin inches in 4 hours!! Getting closer to go time!
Not me, been out 13 times and only seen deer three times, got busted by does when the wind changed. I got the scent crusher bag and let me tell you, if you are sweating they can smell you. The wind changed as they were about 20 yards away from me and they made the snort sound wheeze sound blowing me off. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Ain't been out yet and most likely won't for awhile. Did take a 10 year old boy out on spur of the moment bear hunt a few nights ago. He shot one about an hour into the sit. A hunt I hope to never forget. Was super fun!!
Santiago, just some advice.. dont use that as an end for all!! Very important to scub the crap out of your body and keep equipment super clean. Love it your still out trying!!
I feel you, i hope the temps cool down soon because this SC weather is not helping. hunting pressure and fall coming is going to change the deer pattern. I did most of my scouting back in January and Feb, so hopefully deer go back to what they are used to on the fall winter months. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Not much happening this morning, it's humid but the suns coming up and burning it off. Stayed away from my good stand but will probably sit there this evening. I'm getting good pictures around 5pm. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Had a small doe at 40, couldn't get a clean lane to shoot through. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I had an awesome experience last night. I climbed down from the stand and as I made it to the bean field, I saw 3 bucks feeding. I was able to stalk into the beans and as I took a peek to get my bearing, I'm 15 yards from a 4th buck I hadn't seen. As I'm planning my shot, something crashes behind me in the woods and spooked them off. I couldn't believe it, the whole experience was awesome, would have been cool to drop that buck, but still awesome. I was so close to him that I could see the freshly removed velvet remains and blood, still cannot believe I was able to sneak that close to a deer.
4 more sleeps for me. Can’t wait to get an early season doe on film. Pumped! It is in the 90s here though. Kinda a buzzkill. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Same here, but it's supposed to cool down a little for this weekend. Hopefully, I can stick something, saw 5 does, but all outside of bow range.
