Taking the kids to the pumpkin farm today then heading to Southern Illinois to hunt some public. A guy at my work has a camera at the same place i chased this guy for 3 years. So close to killing him. Found him dead of EHD. 167” 8 pointer with 13” crab claw g2’s. Thought i had him figured out, went in to kill him and tripped over his carcass walking out of the woods in the dark. :bigcry: Anyhow a coworker of mine has been getting pics of a world class deer at this same spot. Looks to be in the upper 180-190’s. Hope i at least see a spike

On the board with a good-un . Had a big bodied buck come into my plot right at dark , couldn’t tell what he had in his head so I got the binos on him and knew instantly he was a shooter , he came to 30 yds and turned quartering too enough to get a shot , I aimed at his front shoulder and THAWK!!! He took off plowing out of the plot and I heard him crashing through the planted pines then all silent , I eased out and waited a few hours . I called A good friend and he came over to help with the track . There was no doubt what traile he took because there was bright red blood every where! He only went 40 or 50 yards and piled up in a ditch, 11 pointer wit 6 kickers . So 17 scoreabke points

Went in deep on that public piece. It was horrible getting back there and even worse coming out in the dark. I passed a real decent buck. I was drawn on him and he just didnt give me that feeling. I think he was a 3 y.o. Maybe 135- ish. Body just wasnt full grown. Had nice mass and was wide. Not very tall. By the time i was second guessing myself he was out of my lane. Oh well. If i have to think that hard probably did the right thing. Took me 2 hrs to get back to my truck! :whip:

    Awesome buck, bro!

I am not trying to be a jerk, but you need to rescore that bad boy with something other than what you used… as nice of a buck as he is, no way he is almost 150”

Hey @Tony. look at the score breakdown and look at the pics. About 12” of extras. So without those you dont think that looks like a 136” buck? I do. The spread was only 12. The beams 18 and g2’s at 7-8”. It has good mass. Nothing seems exaggerated to me. Thats how all the junk can really add up. 7 extra scoreables. I dont see a tine that looks out of line with the score breakdown. The only thing i would make sure is to use a cable on the bases to get down past the burs to the actual main beam if he didnt. A tape would sit on top the burs. I think the 148” is close. If its not too inconvenient can you double check your measurements @Gabilgerat ? Im not doubting your measurements and i know why you posted so many pics to avoid this. And just to clarify what was up with the homemade tape? Im sure theres a logical reason. Sorry for the hassle.

What exactly is the paper or plastic strips with the pen marks on it? Is that the measuring device ? This buck has some scoring issues sorry. It needs to be redone. I don’t see 12 inches of extras there unless I am missing about a 7 inch tine someplace

We will have it double checked. I think theres some unintentional errors. Thanks for bringing it to our attention. I should have caught it as captain. We will get it fixed.

I cleaned up my entry post and posted just the required pics and not all the small points with the paper measurements, Those pics were taken for a book of faces deer contest and were not meant to be posted on here, Thats why there were 2 entry post , One was in error accedentally posted with my phone Sorry for the confusion As for the measurements, I used a small paracord tape for measuring the buck , The measurements are accurate to my best abilities, not exaggerated at all.

The pic above is an example… it’s measured incorrectly…

Again, I would absolutely LOVE to shoot that buck! He’d go right on my wall!

That point comes off the back side of the beam and is a small hook , the angle of the camera dosent show it .

Thanks for the clarification @Gabilgerat. Those trashy bucks can be very deceptive especially when looking at pics! Helluva deer. Congrats again. Hey is that this buck you had pics of?
