Well I put an arrow through that 10pt tonight, thought it was a phenomenal heart shot. After looking at my arrow there was little but and some stomach contents on the arrow, he must have been quartering more than I thought. He bounded off about 25 yards then walked away like he was hurt....got a dog tracker coming tomorrow morning. Going to be a long night
Good luck man! If it guts that's a good thing on a severe quartering to shot. At least in my mind unless you skimmed his belly real low. I really hope you find him.
Getting ready to head to the stand on my property. looking for at least a doe this weekend. Put fresh corn out last night, changed batteries on my cell cam. Pulled the card while I was there has a small crab claw 4 point that has been coming back a few days in a row.
Good luck on the track this morning. I’ve killed a few deer like that: Good shot through the vitals on a quartering to shot but the arrow clipped the gut which made the arrow look bad but in reality it was a good kill shot. You’ll find him.
Well, ni8t sure what happened last night. We took a dog out today and tracked it a couple hundred yards to a cornfield (2x) and then the dog went the opposite direction once. My arrow is in the photo. There's nit much there and I did get on some blood but it was sparse which was expected. Im thinking the deer was quartering to more than i was thinking and maybe i just knicked the liver and stomach. I'm at a loss, pretty sure he's going to die just don't know when or where. Definitely a bummer.
Another hour left. Had these two young ones at 15 yards. Not sure where momma was. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I spent the afternoon today running errands with my wife luckily home depot was one of the places we had to go. So I bought enough material to build a hanging station at my house. 2 brand new gambrils as well. I saw one little button buck this morning he came in to 7 yards but he was behind me and just walked off.
I hate that you didn’t find that buck Jensen it always sucks not knowing what happened Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Definitely makes me sick...after tracking an absurd distance to a private property we stopped the track as I can't get ahold of the land owner because they live in the cities. I spoke more with the trackers after and they thought maybe I hugged the shoulder to tight and got a deflection (one blade was broken off; they also thought he might make his way back to primary bedding at some point in the next couple days and die. Idk, it's a bummer with lots of what it's and should haves but ya gotta move forward.
What kind of broad head was you using if you don’t mind me asking. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
NAP Thunderhead....I initially had a schwacker 263 lined up and ready to shoot because they both tuned well but swapped out because I spend some extra time sharpening the thunderhead blades.
I have a buddy that shoots thunderheads and really likes them never had any blade break that’s tuff luck Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
If it was meant to be it would have happened, or at least im telling myself that to pad my wounds. I'm going to go grid search tomorrow or thursday...maybe look for buzzards. On another note as I was driving down to the piece of land I saw that someone hit a doe with their vehicle and it was still alive...I ended up putting an arrow through it and my disease management tag on it. Gotta get that sucker butchered up. I didn't submit it for points because it wasn't an actual hunt...it's been an odd weekend!
I’m hoping to be back out after work some this week we are getting a cool down about Thursday. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
