Yep I would try the public a bit. Then come back. You might be surprised at what you find on the public. Good luck.

That's what my mind keeps telling me. So I'll definitely have a plan by Thursday. This piece of public has over 25,000 acres and everytime I've been there I've seen deer.

Well I had about 125inch 10 come in to 45 and freeze up. He came in after I rattled and was looking down where I was and saw no other deer so instead of coming down the path he was on in the crp he just went back in and was checking for does. It was actually a quiet night which I was surprised by being that I heard grunting super early.

Tomorrow will be a rain out by the looks of it so I'll probably just go into work. Wednesday I'll be able to actually sit a morning which I'm pumped for.

Weather sucks for this time of year...unusually warm and wet...really was hoping to take some serious days off the coming week and next before gun season opens...but the weather almost makes me second guess that.

    Will keep you guys updated.

Guys - Two full dark to dark days starts tomorrow. Then working Friday. Saturday. Dark to Dark again.
These will be the 3 best chances I have for a buck. I will not be targeting doe. So, 50 points from me will need to wait till late season.

That sucks man. But don't let it get to you. I know I've done my fair share of shooting a deer and not finding it. Heck that was my whole season last year. You might get another encounter with him! Also look at everything that went right on that hunt! Just time to adapt and roll with the punches. I mean your a top notch guy when it comes to public land hunting! You go a lot further than most would. I couldn't imagine toting a kayak with all my gear just to get to a spot where I could hunt(also I'm not the fondest of Gators).

That's tough, man. I empathize. Think he is still alive?

I don't think he is. He is probably a half mile deep on private land, dead.

I feel with you. Shot one last year in the high shoulder. I had no chance however, I do think that one lived with no blood and super limited penetration.

I had two buddies tag out yesterday. I'm going to head out here in a bit and stop and pick up some fresh tarsak glands from one of my buddies. Hoping to get it done tonight.
