    You and me both

A friend at work did give me a tip on a public land spot. We'll see.

Definitely not liking the extended forecast outlook to end September.

    Just need elevation…

It was 30 this morning when I parked the truck this morning at 9500’. Oh, you don’t have 9500’ elevation? And that’s where my elk hobby comes in…I highly recommend it.

It was 100 degrees when I drove through Missouri a couple days ago.

An elk hunt will be a once in a lifetime for me. 30 degree mornings would have me fired up lol you have any sightings or bugles out there yet?

As for whitetail here in Ohio, I’m just hoping to get some south south/west winds for opener. I’ve had some magical early season hunts when the winds right.

Got my late December hunting spot today. I'm actually excited about it now, even if it is late season. A lot of deer in this area, very familiar location for me, but have never set foot on it.

Hoping to get out this weekend and hang a stand on public to leave up, will pull it in November and hang 2 stands in the lake area site for the 2 weeks I have access to it.

Thanks ! I used an older Parker Tornado crossbow. We have to kill a doe first to use are buck tag so I wanted to make sure I got a deer down quick.
Now I am hunting with my Mathews VXR with gold tip arrows and G5 expendables
This is my first season back to archery with a bow after 5 years of work related injuries. Torn shoulder and 2 hernias. Feels great to be out in the woods again holding a bow!

Alright guys so my name is Andy some of ya have seen me around. Looks like I've been on a team or had conversations with most of you. I'm working on a couple spots to try to have more of a chance at better deer. I'm in southern Iowa but most the land is hunted by someone else already. I'll try to be as active as I can but I am working on the road now so I'll be pretty much a weekend warrior. I've killed a couple 150s in the past and thinking about only shooting does or bigger bucks as to I don't get excited just shooting a deer anymore. Side note my 7 years old has her first tag this year. So hoping to get her on a decent deer.

I havnt herd of the brand Parker since I first started hunting. Hope you stay healthy for the season. I’m sure that’ll be a big rush using a vertical bow after all the time away.

I’m also using G5 expandables this year. I usually prefer fixed heads but due to some tuning issues I’m trying the dead meats out. I’m excited to see how they perform

Hey fellas. I'm still hoping one straggler will eventually show up who wants to be part of the contest. I still have the alternates sign up thread open, but if any of you know of someone who hasn't signed up give me their screen name and I'll send them an email.

I'll do all I can to make sure you have a full team. Not that you couldn't win with just eight, but I do try to be fair.

    Clint,

Can you get to that inside corner? Is it even on your huntable area? (I'm colorblind.) Why does everyone insist on using red and green for EVERYTHING?

Kinda, i reoutlined it in blue, and then a zoomed out version. The entire parcel is citt owned bound by the roads and the entire ag field on the south. Still need to drive out there and see what is planted this year or is it grown over. For whatever reason their southern boundary is the field edge, the rest of it is pretty much a 50yd buffer from roadways/structures.

I can get to that corner yes, but only the NE sector of it. Another thing I am wondering is whether the area was designated overpopulated due to DVC's, which the busy road would be the road bordering the nowrth and west sides of it. The only survey I have access to for it is from '22 and they counted 17 deer.

Is there some rule or regulation that would prevent you from walking or riding the field edge to the inside corner?

No, I can access it from anywhere, just limited to their hunt boundaries as far as setting up and taking the shot etc.

Then if it were me I'd be setting up where I had a shot at the very edge of that inside corner, say 30-ish yards and where I had a shot behind me at about the same distance. Inside corners are awesome.

I'm killing a deer this year, '21 was the last year for me. I want to take a few from this spot to help my odds for next year and a better season date.

    I'm done procrastinating.

Saw 8 cows/calves, no antlered. E believe we were within 100-150yds of bulls many times. Needed a few more seconds for a shot on cows at 35 yds…

We worked elevations from about 8900 to 10.3.
