Nice work on the scrape. I'm thinking about using a dripper/mock scrape this year too. What kind do you use?

Its a Magnum dripper that has the Active Scrape inside. I got it at the end of season last year at WallyWorld on clearance for like $10. This is my first year ever using one or doing a mock scrape. Needless to say I'm pretty pleased so far. :D

I would go insane if I had that thing on my phone Remy. Its hard enough to keep my mind off hunting as it is. Sweet pics by the way!

On another note, went down to Vernon Co where I do most of my "serious" hunting. It was a so-so cam check to put it best. Nice 9 and what appears to be an older dear with a heavy right beam and a club for his left side. I've got mixed emotions on that guy. I also got cornered by cows :p

It wasn't so bad when there was still over 100 days on it. But it does get worse everyday day now. :P

So is anybody striving for other goals this hunting season besides the normal " want to harvest the biggest buck they can"? Whether it be maybe a first elk hunt or some other type of new goal you have.

I personally am doing what my main goals were from the ending of last season. I've gotten myself a trail cam and am putting it to use in my area. Tracking and patterning quite a few does. Have a great feeling about getting a slickhead in the freezer pretty quickly after opener. Also have my first bucks on cam that was one of my side goals aswell. Those were pretty significant goals for me and a definite improvement in hunting tactics for me.

I REALLY want to take a mature buck over a decoy. I just prepped a spot, specifically for this.

View from the stand, this is where it'll go down. YES, I'm calling my shot!

Shot of the area. To the South (left), endless corn. In the middle, a pond. Just to the North, my stand. And further North, bedding.
    It's a slam dunk! :ninja:

My biggest goals this year are to improve my entry and exit strategies during the season. I found that I got busted too many times on my way to the stand last year, especially for morning hunts. I'd also like to remember to stay patient and not get so frustrated and bent out of shape if I don't have meat in the freezer by a certain point. My advice to myself this year is "dude, just chill, it'll happen". I feel like the less urgent I am in the woods, the more likely I am to have a successful hunt. Last but not least, I'd like to put a large amount of meat in the freezer (hoping for 2-4 deer) with my first bow buck included in there somewhere. I have four great hunting properties, and I am very confident I can accomplish all my goals.

I agree dude, we're gonna do well. The freshman year jitters are out of the way and now its time we really start applying everything we learned from last year. I think we'll light it up this year

Same here. Looking back last year I should not have been in the woods with my bow. We are going to get it done this year. Sept 7th cannot get here soon enough.

Well it's Monday and I didn't see any additional votes so Top Pin Terrors it is. I'll notify a Mod and get our thread title changed. Hope everyone had a good weekend. I took part in my first 3D shoot to get in a little extra practice. I scored a 164 out of 240 and didn't lose any arrows so overall I was happy. It's great practice for judging distances without a rangefinder.

I've sent another message to Billy to try and get our last member checked in. The Top Pin Terrors are going to get the job done this year.

Nice Eric! That's one thing I have yet to do is shoot a 3D. I bet its a blast.

Sorry I can't help at all in coming up with our team avatar. Don't even have a computer to mess around on. :(

My backyard a couple minutes ago. It's a shame I live just inside city limits. [IMG]

That looks like my yard. I live in a suburban neighborhood with a half an acre of property. I wish I could just put a stand right in my back yard, the deer travel through it all the time
