As I got outta my tree yesterday I went to pull the card in my cam. It had been unchecked for about a month. I got up to my cam and somebody had busted the tab with the lock, opened the cover, and took my SD card. Pretty pissed about it but at least they didn't steal my camera. I guess they just didn't want pics of them trespassing getting out. Its private land but quite a few people have permission to hunt it. I'm pretty sure that I'm the only one that bow hunts it. Was more than likely someone scouting for muzzleloader and shotgun seasons that doesn't have permission and wanted to get rid of the evidence. I hate thieves!!! They're scum!

Had my top of the hit list at 26 yards and wasn't confident with the shot. I practiced today and if he walks out there again I will most likely have a buck down for the team

Good to hear from you Junior, I was wondering what you and your dad had going on this year.
Better luck with him next time!

Rem, that sucks man! I bet your right about them getting rid of the evidence.

Weird its right Fred. me and my brother have been out the last 4 days and have seen little rut activity. the little guys aren't even chasing right now. Does are by themselves and the bucks we have seen are just business as usual. Its unexplainable this time of year

I know it Matt, can't remember any season like this. I guess all that talk about a late rut is actually true this year. But it's been more than that, major travel corridors which are usually guaranteed for sightings at least, are dead!

I'm glad I took this weekend off, and I'm also glad my vacation starts the 17th. I'm gonna take a 3 day'er for this weekend coming though.
Maybe they know something we don't? Zombie apocalypse is coming perhaps? :ninja:

Oh boy. I wouldn't go that far. I'm gonna cut my week short and come back for 3 or 4 days at the end of next wk. Guess that's why they call it hunting. I used to think the guys saying it was a late rut were just trying to get their hopes up that it might be still on during gun season. This yr it appears to be true

Good thing I have myself an extra week before I start my new job:)

Of the two stands I was deciding to sit in this morning, a 170" 10 pt walked right by the stand I happen to not be in. I may not buy another trail camera again.

I have a question for you guys. During these next few weeks for the rut, is it a good idea to stay mobile like I did during the early season? or can I sit in the same spot for consecutive sits (depending on wind)? Like if I continue to sit in the same location, hunt after hunt, can I burn that spot out even during peak breading?

I would say yes Mike. Sure, you may still catch a buck cruising, but if the does have you figured out, they're gonna avoid you and only hurt your chances. I still try and move around as much as possible.
Do you have permanent stands out, or are you strictly mobile?

I'm strictly mobile with my climber. I considered buying a couple of those real cheap $40 hang-ons at ****'s tonight with a set of climbing sticks, but I really dont think they'll be worth the investment. I havent heard many good things about them.

I also am strictly mobile with a climber Mike. I agree that its a good idea to keep it that way during the rut. I will be moving closer to some doe bedding areas in different spots that I have. I have yet to hunt them because I didn't want to accidentally bump them out. I'm hoping the bucks will be checking them out more as the rut progresses. I won't burn those spots out either but I stayed away from them until this coming weekend.

Gonna take the girlfriend hunting with me Sat morning. It'll be her first time out experiencing the magic of watching the woods come alive in the morning. I've got a pretty sweet ground spot for us to sit at. Hopefully next year we can get her hunters safety course done and she'll be able to actually hunt. I keep telling her about how spiritual and amazing it is to experience the woods and she's super excited.

That's cool Rem, she's either gonna think it's amazing, or that you're a freak. Could go either way :p

I have my climber, ladder stands and some cheap hang-ons from SPG. They're alright for half day sits, but can be brutal for all day. But I would imagine even a Lone Wolf isn't comfortable for all day.
I use the climber mostly, cause I love to move around and have a different view. Depends on which property I'm at though.
Ladderstands can be awesome, when I'm exhausted and feeling lazy!

FEB, I have not seen your monster buck yet this year. Are you pacing yourself?))))
