No dice found blood and tracked for 80 yards then dried up. Dark red blood. Didn't find my arrow. I heard the hit and it wasn't bone.

Bummer Brent, better luck on another one.
I took the morning off due to rain. Headed out for the afternoon in a little while, and will be at it all day tomorrow.
Really slow out there, saw one deer all day yesterday.
    Good luck all.

Jeff, any update on the score of that brute of yours?

6 more days of work and then 10 straight days of hunting for me. The thread is pretty quiet these days. Game time eh fellas?

Well for me, family issues aside, I've been trying to get the new bow ready. It is used and had to replace the strings and they just came in and got done today. I hate doing bow work in the middle of the season but had no choice. I hope to be finished Thursday and back in the woods this weekend. Weather, wind and moon is in my favor so I am hoping for good things. I'd be perfectly happy with a slick head. . Hope everyone else is doing well.

Well, had an excellent day of hunting today. I hunted this morning but didnt see any deer during shooting hours, so I decided to come back to the same spot and hunt it for the afternoon. As soon as I walked in for the afternoon hunt (2:30) I got busted by some does as I was walking to my spot. Once I got to where I wanted to set up, I changed my mind and decided to hunt an intersection of 3 heavily used trails to try and fill my last doe tag.

Around 5pm, 2 does made their way up the hill to me, one of which I came to full draw on at 35 yards but she never stepped out from behind a tree for me to take a shot. Both does wandered down the hill feeding on acorns. Around this time, I noticed all the way at the bottom of the hill, a white blob emerge from the brush and then disappear. About 15 minutes later, the smaller of the two does (I'm guessing she was a year and a half old) came back up the hill and presented me with a 30 yard quartering away shot, which I took. She ran about 20 yards and dropped dead.

About 20 minutes after I shot the smaller doe, the larger of the two comes wandering up the hill looking for the smaller one, and following her was that white blob I had seen earlier. It was a piebald doe. Her body was completely white except for her face. I was able to snap a half way decent shot of her with the camera. Tonight was definitely one of the coolest hunts I've ever been on. I got more meat for the freezer and I got to see my first white deer while in the stand. Too bad I can't count the one I shot for the scorecard again. Hopefully I'll drop a buck soon.

Dang Mike, congrats on doe #2! And that piebald is pretty awesome, would you have shot it if it came in first?

Despite a pretty dead few days, I'm chompin at the bit to get back out there. Starting to get some shooter bucks on cam and they're almost ready to start cruising.
Best thing about last weekend, I had my 79 y.o. dad with me. I put him in one of my ladderstands, and he smoked a doe with his
    crossbow. The dude rocks!

Thanks Fred! I actually could have shot that piebald tonight at around 37 yards but I dont think I could have done it even if it were 15 yards from me. Theyre pretty rare and really cool to see from the stand, I dont think I could do it. Congrats on getting your dad some success with the crossbow! That must have been a blast!

Been pretty dang busy and I'd much rather be hunting. Lol. Gonna hopefully get a couple sits in this weekend. The weather is dropping here in RI and it seems to be a great weekend to be out. Only have a couple things to do this weekend so I should be able to hit the tree a couple times.:D

How'd things go today Remy? Hopefully since there is no word yet it means you are hard at it and getting your tracking on. lol. Well after a long break I am heading out in the AM. Honestly up until a week ago, it's still been so warm here that I just don't think they are moving much. But Saturday morning, I have the right temp, wind and moon to get on a great hunt. I've done a ton of shooting the last two weeks since the new bow arrived and I am flat out ready to get after it and put something on the ground. Good luck to anyone else getting out this weekend and be safe. :tu:
