Exactly one week from this exact hour... I won't be sound asleep dreaming of big bucks walking 15 yards in front of my stand. I'll be awake, daydreaming about big bucks walking in front of my stand. Here comes a full week of sleepless nights of anticipation. Opening day is almost here. I'm more ready than I've ever been and have my stand locations picked out with every wind there could possibly be. I cant wait

Did a little inventory today on my backpack and tote contents. Everything is in order except I cant find my gloves:rant: I picked up a retractable tether for my range finder, of the Nikon variety, and am not happy with it. Its noisy as could be. Maybe i'm just anal but I don't think i'll be taken that guy out in the woods.

FYI for all you guys on the east coast. I have a MI-WI combo accent, so when I say "that guy" most of the time its referring to an object and not an actual person.

Season opens for me Saturday! Unfortunately my wife decided that weekend would be a great time for her parents to visit from MI. Don't count me out yet though, low sixties and a drizzles will be awfully hard to pass up. I might be asking for forgiveness after the weekend is over:evilgrin:

Good luck this weekend guys. Lets get on the board and start grinding this out. Remember to shoot what makes you happy. This is supposed to be fun. I've not gotten back out this week. Was hoping to get out this weekend but have a couple snags. I have to get some work done on my bow. I am shooting all over the place. On top of that I pulled a muscle in my leg and can barely walk. Trying to nurse it back to normal so I can get back in the stand. Good luck to everyone getting out this weekend.

I know exactly what you mean bro. I'm originally from central PA and grew up firearm hunting there. I love that RI allows hunting on Sundays and our bow season is from Sept 15th all the way through Jan 31st. Plus you can harvest a total of 8 deer, 3 bucks and 5 does if you want.

Nice. We get 2 bucks and 4 does. If we tag out I can get 4 more doe tags. We can bow hunt through the other seasons too through jan 1

I wish CT would allow us to hunt sundays too. From Sept 16th-Dec 31st we're allowed 2 antlerless tags and 2 either sex tags. If we chose to use use both either sex tags on does, and tag out, we're allowed to have another either sex tag. In zones 11 and 12, the season extends to Jan 31st and we're allowed another either sex tag and another antlerless tag. Luckily I have a couple zone 12 properties to hunt if I chose.

Its alittle more tricky here in WI. You only get one buck tag and one doe tag for bow season. 2 does in certain zones. So if I shoot a buck Sat. Im pretty much done until gun season. Nov 22. I can pretty much shoot does whenever i want so the excitment ends with the buck kill. Doesnt boed well when you love hunting as much as i do.

That would be a tough situation for me too. I really can't complain about the bag limits in my state. BUT, from what I've heard, read, and seen on this forum, WI bucks are notoriously large. I'd imagine that probably varies from region to region within the state, but if given the opportunity to trade two CT either sex tags for one WI buck tag, I might take that trade. I'd say from season to season, the odds of putting down a buck bigger that 130" in CT are slim, but I feel like my odds would be much better if I were in a state like WI. So I guess we're both somewhat fortunate in that you have access to some quality whitetail genetics and I have access to an abundance of tags.

Opening day is monday morning for me, but I have seen a lot of deer within daylight hours, mostly around 4-5pm. Hopefully they stay that stupid when the season opens cause I'm hittin' the woods with guns ablazin', but with a bow obviously. I wont hesitate to put some meat in the freezer and get us on the board.
