coyotes Lost one to coyotes last night. I thought i made a bad hit so I decided to wait tell the next morning , but i actually got 1 lung and a liver. Unfortunately there were coyotes in the area.
She was quartering away hard at 30 yrds so I aimed back some hoping to make it come out by her front shoulder, but she turned back towards me quickly just as I released causing the the shot to hit liver and lung on opposite side. Im bummed about losing the meat but I couldnt bear to eat it after a dog already touched it.
Got the Katera ready, the Video Camera batteries are charged and the backpack is almost situated. The weather and moon are shaping up nice and I am on the edge of a cornfield between a bedding area. Hopefully the next few days are rewarding, I would like to get the Monkey off my back after last season
Sorry I was a 1/4 mile back in the woods alone and no camera. I usually bust two or three does a year so it wont be a problem.
My season opener is tomorrow. I haven't seen a buck via scouting or trail cameras that excites me yet, but then again I've done very little scouting and haven't had the cams out much either as compared to years past......still riding the bicycle too much....at the age of 50 probably better use of my time.....damn tendinitis. But I digress.....if a barren doe presents a shot this week end, I'll fling an arrow (our fawns are most likely still carrying spots) or if I see a 130" class buck . Otherwise, I'll sit back , take some pictures, and enjoy the moment. It's all good!
Guys, I almost had 140+ inches this morning. Earlier around 6:30 I had a small eight come within 10 yards of my stand and then wind me. Later around 7:30 I had a text from work that I was answering and out of the corner of my eye I saw movement. I turned slightly and 30 yards downwind was a 145" ten staring right at me, guess he caught wind and then a little movement and off he went Frustration set in after that and I got out around 9am, went to the truck and drove back to the field edge to rehang my stand. I now have the stand so that I am a little higher and angled in the tree better, I will be back out tonight. Happiness is knowing I had bucks, hell there were two within twenty yards of me when it was still dark, and then the two after sunrise. I banked on the West wind thinking they would be on the edge of the woods coming from the corn, instead they worked the corn row from the East and left me with a bad wind. Guess I now have to rethink the set until the corn is out.
Unbelievable first day! I saw 10 bucks and 8 doe's. Passed up a couple decent bucks which usually i dont do, hopefully it pays off. I had 4 bucks below me just before daylight today and one snort wheezed 3 times while another one tore a tree apart, never heard a SW this early in the season.
Had a good night tonight 2 does at 30 yards just didn't give me a good shot..also had alittle 4 point right under my stand he stood there for about 3 mins it was awsome
I'm going out by myself tonight for my first sit where I'm hunting and not somebody else. I'm headed out to place I found that shed and just maybe catch him on the acrorns.
I'm taking off work tomorrow and heading back to the spot i hunted yesterday. Hopefully i get a shot at one of the nice ones i saw yesterday. Good luck everyone!
